This is a reading on your economic situation at the moment. It deals with the investments, spending habits, management of income, use of possessions, and other physical resources which are central to your interest at this time. Because it deals with material assets, its information can also be applied to issues involving your health.

You have created circumstances where there is a huge disparity between the quality (and perhaps quantity) of work you do and the amount you are paid in return. You may be charging top dollar for incompetent, poor-quality products and services. You may be cutting corners, trying to "scoot by" with as little effort as possible, and you may even be doing things that border on fraud.

Or you may be dealing with people who are treating you this way, abusing your craftsmanship, not appreciating the effort you put out on their behalf, and trying to "get something for nothing" by giving you back as little as they can possibly get away with. If you are putting up with this treatment, you are shamefully complying in your own exploitation. Abuse is abuse ... and "good intentions" don't do much to change its ugly appearances or sad results.

There are indications in this energy that someone's vanity is way out of control ... that he is unjustifiably proud of himself, smug in his ability to beat the system, fleece the "suckers," ride on other people's coattails, or get what he wants "for free", not understanding (or maybe not caring) about the karmic implications and eventual backlash being created by his choices.

Realize, too, there is not much honor in playing the perpetual victim if you are the one on the short end of the stick here ... and are staying there so you can criticize others or use self-pity as a building block in the self-righteous image you may have of yourself.

By skirting the law -- cosmic law, human law, and the physical law of cause-and-effect, you are misapplying your skills, not respecting yourself, not insisting that others grow and behave themselves better, getting lost in the pettiness of life, bogged down in "the small stuff," and definitely going about things in the wrong way.

No matter which side of this transaction you are on ... as the perpetrator or the victim of this abuse, these are not circumstances to be proud of, and the longer you let them continue the harder it will be to break the habit. So you need to get to work on that ... and soon. You are too focused on short terms gains ... and taking the easy way out.

At this point, you at least understand as fully as you need to that this is happening ... and have some idea about the eventual cost this will entail to you if it continues. You are able to work with this issue directly and honestly -- and that's the first step to getting it fixed.

You have depleted your physical and financial assets. Something did not pay off the way you expected it to ... or it cost you a lot more than you realized -- or hoped. It's possible you made a major purchase (although it's also possible what you "bought" was the sad wisdom of experience.) Or you "invested a lot of yourself" into something -- that hasn't yielded the dividend you're looking for.

At the moment, indications are it either won't give back what you intend, or the investment will take more time to mature than you realized. You have to work with the possibility that you have overspent; incurred money problems; invested yourself, your time, and your talents poorly.

You are not be living up to your potential -- or achieving the gains you want. You may have jeopardized yourself without realizing it ... or exhausted yourself to no ultimate benefit.

You are in a situation that contains considerable dishonesty in what you say, think, believe ... or in what you are being told. The information you are working with is unreliable ... possibly by "putting a better face" on rather unpleasant facts. This is an energy of self-sabotage, of being complicit in your own undoing, of letting yourself be talked into something when you know better -- by accepting excuses, rationalizations, and pretty cover stories. You may even be making these up and telling them to yourself. You may learn in time you have been your own worst enemy by adopting this strategy.

This card depicts reaping the consequences of past bad actions, lies -- perhaps ones you have told yourself or lulled yourself into believing, not paying close attention to what really matters, making decisions based on wishful thinking or deceitful information, weaseling, and either trying to get away with something ... or letting somebody else get away with something -- again, when you really know better than to trust what is happening here.

This is literally an energy of theft and deception. You ... or someone else ... is trying to gain something you have not earned (which could be money, possessions, position, status, regard, or "credit" for something that doesn't really belong to you), are using sweet-talk and fabrications to support your claim, or are playing head games and trying to pull a fast one. Something about the way you think about, work with, and report this situation needs to be corrected -- and fast. It is having substantial influence over your thinking and choices at the moment.

You have an interesting asset available in your situation: The ability to reinstate reality on an intellectual level. This often means someone owns up to the truth, makes amends, and comes to terms honestly with what has happened. You may give credit to someone you have treated unfairly or apologize to someone you have harmed. Or someone who has mistreated or slighted you will decide to set the record straight. At this point you realize this is either possible or necessary.

Properly used, this energy indicates that recognition and credit are given ... if belatedly. Balance is restored. There is greater understanding and honesty in circumstances where misunderstanding, rationalization, deception and even outright lies have existed. You will be able to make better, clearer choices -- because at last you're acting on the truth. You are able to openly, deliberately put this into effect.

You can bring about basic clarification and allow atonements to take place. You, or someone, is able to listen, get the message, learn the lesson, and accept the necessary consequences of past actions. At last, you are no longer fooling yourself, accepting pretty "cover stories," or living in fantasies that have no connection to reality.

It may have been a long unhappy road that brought you here ... but here is a better place to be, and now you can apply its advantages to your own benefit.

You have an unused asset in your situation. You need to withdraw from the stresses of the outside world, take some time for yourself, and seek the greater comfort and counsel of your own Inner Self. This should be a time of active spiritual seeking, of discovering life's meaning in terms of your own spiritual truth, of seeking your own direction and listening to your inner counsel. It should also be a time of creative visualization, of absorbing wisdom, of gaining greater insight, and setting personal goals.

You may not yet realize the need for this strategy ... or you may not understand that it is available to you. Your compass at this point needs to center on the dedication to do what is right and true for you, to be open-minded, quiet, and observant, to enjoy the comfort of your solitude and stabilize yourself and your expanding wisdom in the serenity available to you now.

This is a period of valuing your own time and space, of experiencing your own self-awareness, and having the patience to be tolerant, introspective, and questioning all at the same time. It is a time of contemplation ... and of drawing conclusions from the accumulated wisdom of your own life's experience.

You are not yet applying this resource to your own benefit as well as you might -- or as well as you need to. You may not have thought of it. You may not understand how necessary it is. You may not know exactly how to accomplish it ... or you may not have seen the outlines of this opportunity clearly enough yet to trust it. But you will before long. And you will see the wisdom of using this asset for the advantages it can provide.

In the short term, you will find you have pushed yourself to the point of collapse -- and possibly illness -- because of the load of commitments, responsibilities, and stress you are handling. The need for you to "do it all" itself needs to change.

Ultimately, you will need to confront your own immaturity. You have been living too much in the past, clinging to outworn situations, relationships, and worthless associates. Problems from your past continue to pollute conditions in the present ... and deep emotional disappointments keep you from "moving on" ... although that is really your next step in this level of personal growth.

You will find you are caught in unproductive circumstances, dwelling on unhappy past events, dealing with rigid ideas -- your own and those of others. In short, you are not progressing, but are instead sacrificing the present for past longings and regrets ... wondering "what might have been," and staying caught in unproductive nostalgia.
