This is a reading on your relationships -- describing the major theme of your association with other people right now. This includes partners, friends, parents, children, other family members, and all others who are contained in the relationships that have your attention now.

You are in a situation of high anxiety, despair, and emotional upset serious enough to qualify as torment.

You are also in a time of unexpected, serious, and sudden changes. This energy is that of disruption, sweeping -- even catastrophic -- changes and adjustments. Old ideas -- even previous ways of living ... are coming to an end. This may indicate a breakdown in conditions you'd considered solid, permanent, and reliable. It may be brought about by a sudden insight ... or information you'd not previously known -- or been taking into account.

Realize that dramatic as these experiences may be, they can also usher in times of considerable improvement. You are releasing old ways of life, old habits. This may coincide with a dramatic expansion of consciousness or perspective. There is also the possibility of a disturbing "message of truth" you will have to accommodate. You may find you literally see the world as never before. Your whole picture of reality may be different.

This is a change in your overall view of life and your psychological programming. A basic belief about yourself, your circumstances, and "the way the world works" is in the making. Keep reminding yourself, times of crisis can also be ones of great growth. At least you are able to work with this energy openly and directly.

You are coping with a problematic personality or a counter-productive set of attitudes. This may involve someone who has -- or causes -- chronic financial problems, someone who is impractical, irresponsible, physically lazy, and who "uses" people ... especially to his own financial advantage.

Your situation may also contain attitudes that are unethical, calculating, financially stingy -- or financially greedy, and where "doing things the easy way" is a primary concern. Accommodating him (or her!) may be chronically costly to your career progress, your pocketbook, and your physical health.

Because energy is always a two-way street -- this may represent another person in your situation, or it may be a side of your personality you are reluctant to confront or control. You may not even want to admit it exists, but at least this situation is out in the open where you can recognize it and work with it directly and honestly. You realize the impact this has on your thinking and your decisions. This has your full attention now.

Alternatively: This card can indicate you need to do some serious work to refocus your thinking about money, business decisions, commercial transactions, and the use of time and other resources. It can mean a new way of conducting your financial life and managing your economic situation is waiting to unfold ... and you need to do the inner work -- and the groundwork -- to discover it.

If the description of the difficult personality above doesn't seem to fit your circumstances, or if this interpretation resonates more emphatically with the situation you are handling, then consider this to be the message the card is offering you.

You are in a situation where weakness, cowardice, a loss of control, and "taking the easy way out" are on display. This may stem from a lack of self-confidence, self-sabotage, or giving in to pressure and manipulation. You may not see a good way to overcome or compensate for this ... or you may be in denial about just how much this could hinder a successful resolution of this issue.

You are redefining some important goals -- perhaps having to do with your financial life or professional direction. Targets you were once aiming to reach don't suit you any more, or you realize your direction was "off" somehow. You no longer want what you have been working toward. You may also find you have achieved something that no longer "fits" you.

It is time to make a course correction ... perhaps a substantial one. You may not yet understand the scope of this change. You may be in denial about the need to make it. You may not yet see a way to accomplish it. Or you may not fully grasp the dynamics presently at work on this issue. In any case, you are not yet applying yourself to best effect as this process unfolds in your life.

Before long, you will meet a helpful person or adopt a very beneficial set of attitudes. This person is business-like, practical, has sound money sense and a good head on his shoulders. He may be working in a relatively new professional endeavor ... or have started a new career path recently. He is either fairly young or somewhat "new" at what he is doing.

This person is efficient, studious, down-to- earth, dependable, and hard-working. His attitudes and choices are realistic, responsible, and conservative. He may be a little too "bottom-line" to be called compassionate, but he is able to offer practical help and sensible counsel. He or his advice may be conspicuous in business, health, or lifestyle issues you are dealing with at the moment.

This energy may come in the form of another person -- or it may be parts of your own personality coming to the forefront to aid you or promote their own further development.

Eventually, you will have to cope with someone who does not react well to having his ideas challenged or his opinions questioned. He (or she) is very forceful in his thinking ... but also very closed-minded and rigid. He may blame others rather than seek solutions, fail to show leadership, and fail to accept responsibility for the problems he creates with his attitudes ... and manner.

He is stern, strict, cruel, unjust, and uncaring. He may trigger these same responses in you -- or this energy may well be an inner part of you that comes to the surface to be noticed and adjusted.
