This is a reading on your economic situation at the moment. It deals with the investments, spending habits, management of income, use of possessions, and other physical resources which are central to your interest at this time. Because it deals with material assets, its information can also be applied to issues involving your health.

You are in a position of strength ... where you can use your own force, fortitude, and power to great advantage. This energy contains tremendous energy, steadfastness, and self-confidence. You have access to abundant sources of inner power ... that you can use to your own benefit out in the real world. You are willing to take on challenging projects with the determination to follow them through to success.

In addition, you are coping with adversity, obstacles, and possibly a lack of preparation for what you have undertaken. To complicate matters, however, you are not fighting for what is right, not standing up for yourself, remaining weak and vulnerable, and bending under the considerable pressure of your circumstances. You may be dealing with a problem you thought was already "solved."

You may also be allowing yourself to be bullied or "run over." You are overwhelmed, dealing with circumstances you aren't really ready to face, and may be blind-sided before long because you are trying to "be nice," make excuses or "look the other way." You may not feel there is much you can do about this situation ... but there is no denying the influence it is having on you and your life at this point.

You are coping with a problematic personality or a counter-productive set of attitudes. This person is wasteful, careless with money, possibly too materialistic or too easily impressed with status symbols. He (or she) is without practical direction, may not show much common sense, may lack "a good head for business," and may be in constant financial distress as a result. This person may also be physically ill -- most likely from poor lifestyle choices.

This is someone who doesn't learn ... even from his own mistakes -- of which there may be plenty to choose from as examples of how not to behave. The attitudes present here are hedonistic, vain, status-conscious, contrary, extravagant, impractical, self-absorbed, and unwilling to listen to the voice of experience. This may come in the form of another person -- or it may be parts of your own personality you need to confront and correct.

You may not feel there is much you can do to correct or compensate for the problems this person or this part of yourself presents, but at this point you at least understand what is going on and are able to confront the matter openly and directly -- for all the good it may do. You understand the impact these elements have on your thinking and choices now.

Alternatively: You may need to step back, go inward, an reconnect with your own common sense. You may also need to rethink some matter involving your career, business life, or commercial enterprises. You may need to learn some thing you don't know at the moment ... or implement some strategies you have only begun to discover. If you resonate to this meaning more strongly than to the presence of a difficult person -- or a counter-productive set of attitudes, consider this is the message the card intends to deliver to you now.

Either way, this energy is having considerable impact on your thinking, on the choices you make, and on the way you view the circumstances you're working with now.

You are in conditions of conflict, separation, misunderstanding, and quarrelling -- possibly regarding an important relationship or alliance. The energy of this card is that of "coming apart," and indicates unbalanced relationships, failure to communicate well, failure to understand your partner and his or her needs, and an overall lack of support and appreciation in either direction among you and your associates.

It can also indicate circumstances where someone in a relationship is too possessive, dishonest, too demanding, manipulative, or cold. There is a severe lack of balance and equality in what should be a much more even or independent arrangement.

It indicates arguments, disputes, distrust, unhappiness, loneliness, and "feeling distant" from those who are supposed to care for you -- and about whom you, too, ostensibly care. This is an energy of unhappiness ... and feeling both unloved and unloving. This energy is out in the open ... where you can work with it directly and try to correct it. But as an asset, it may not be offering you much help in meeting the challenges of what you are trying to cope with.

You have an unused asset in your situation. It exists in the presence of a powerful person of character and integrity who commands considerable influence and force. This could be another person ... someone whose leadership abilities and dedication to self-actualized goals are a compelling part of his nature, someone who leads by example ... and sets a most impressive tone with the choices he makes in his own life.

This influence, if it comes in another person, is charismatic, effective, authoritative, and brave. He (or she!) is a good counselor and a person of sound moral fortitude. He is someone you can both count on and confide in, independent, responsible, and solid. He will activate some of the best of these qualities in you, and provide an example of how you can grow along these lines, too.

Keep in mind, this energy may exist as a composite of several people ... if you don't see one definite example of this candor and strength among your immediate associates. This powerful influence may also be one of your own inner selves that has come to the forefront of your attention to help you ... and itself ... evolve and improve as you work through this issue.

If you don't find this clearly available in another person or people in your outer world, look within. This energy is waiting to meet you there. It is what will attract these others into your life to act as aids and allies if you need them. It can have a strong influence on your opinions, views, and choices in this matter.

You may not understand that this is available to you ... or it may no have made its presence felt strongly enough for you to pay it attention at this point. For some reason, you are not yet applying this resource to your own advantage as well as you might.

Soon, however, a problematic personality or attitude will present itself. You will encounter someone negative, sarcastic, sly, critical, opinionated, argumentative, and undisciplined. This person is superficial, untrustworthy, and uncooperative ... a trouble-maker and a know-it-all.

He or she will either trigger these attitudes in you ... or you will see how you, too, are part of the problem, because these elements and responses are part of your personality you need to handle more productively. Someone may hand you "bad news" ... or you may have to respond to the fact you've been working at cross-purposes with yourself.

Ultimately, you are moving to a resolution that includes a serious atmosphere of quarrelling, anxiety, and deep philosophical disagreement. This is an extremely disagreeable situation, containing, as it does, elements of defeat, unfairness, failure, slander, cruelty, cowardliness, and malice. You may feel you have been treated unfairly ... or realize that you have done so to others. (Possibly both.)

This is a situation of insensitivity, fear, the realization that you are not following your conscience -- if you pause long enough to rationally consider what is happening here. You are pushing an issue ... or using force ... often to no good avail, often to avoid changing your mind about something dear or important to you. Or you are feeling coerced and pressured to change your opinions ... or surrender your ideas ... by circumstances or another person.

This is an energy of victimization, and because energy is always a two way street, you may be either the victim, the perpetrator, or quite likely ... both. You may have to cope with feelings of revenge, the consequences of your self-defeating actions, or the consequences of ruthless responses.

Even "winning" here gains you nothing but an empty victory. You are likely locked into circumstances which involve mind games, game-playing, scoring points, getting even, and working to get "one up" on someone else -- and vice versa. You need desperately to change your thinking.
