This is a reading on your relationships -- describing the major theme of your association with other people right now. This includes partners, friends, parents, children, other family members, and all others who are contained in the relationships that have your attention now.

You are able to take charge of your circumstances ... and your life ... and exercise the power, control, and "governing" functions that are truly your right to claim and your responsibility to fulfill. This is a powerful energy of self-mastery, self-control, and achievement. You are in control, giving direction, demanding respect, and exercising wise and proper authority. You understand the advantages this offers you.

You have a helpful person or a very beneficial set of attitudes in your situation. This person is intellectual, philosophical, profound, and studious. He (or she) is definitely a thinker ... perceptive, academic -- maybe kind of a bookworm.

He is interested in fairly sophisticated subjects ... like education, law, religion, theology, social problems, politics, spiritual subjects. He is either fairly young ... or may have recently started out on a new level of study and education -- either self-directed or formal. He may still need a little time to "season" in this field.

He is an independent thinker, a good communicator, someone who enjoys learning, investigation, and research. He may have a quiet, "watchful," observant personality. He may not be terribly forward or self-promoting, but he definitely knows what he thinks ... and how to handle information. He is a deep, incisive thinker, strong-minded, intellectually adventurous, smart, literate, mentally alert, a person of solid opinions.

He may be a good teacher and a good debater if you draw him out into such discussion. He is objective, fair, concerned with issues of fairness ... and loves an intellectual challenge. Questions without easy, pat answers appeal to him.

This energy may come in the form of another person -- or it may be parts of your own personality coming to the forefront to aid you or promote their own further development. It may also represent good news about something you think, it may provide information or a piece of knowledge you need to have, or it may "fill in the blanks" on some intellectual concern.

It may also give you a chance to exchange ideas with someone who shares your interests -- or teach you something new. This energy deals frequently in written or spoken messages. You are, however, aware of its presence ... and are able to make direct use of the benefits it brings.

Your situation contains a problematic personality or set of counter-productive attitudes. This person is lazy, dishonest, a swindler, a fraud. He (or she) is irresponsible, manipulative, overly concerned with creature comforts or "taking the easy way out." He is self-indulgent, a "taker," a false friend .. and an emotional drain on those around him. Attitudes present here include insincerity, "living in a dream world," wanting others to take care of him or rescue him, and being focused only on how he can "use" people. This may be present in the form of another person -- or it may represent parts of your character that need to be addressed and corrected. You realize how much this person -- or these attitudes -- are harming your ability to launch effective action. You are at least able to deal with this matter openly and directly -- even if you feel limited in your choices about what to do with it. It has significant impact on your thinking -- as well as your full attention at the moment.

Alternatively: You may need to refocus on your own happiness, your own creative pleasures, and your own "love of living." You could have lost sight of this for some reason ... and need to reconnect to this vital source of emotional support in your own life. If you resonate to this meaning more strongly than to the presence of a difficult person or unproductive set of personal attitudes, consider that this is the message the card is giving you on the matter at hand.

You are in conditions of conflict, separation, misunderstanding, and quarrelling -- possibly regarding an important relationship or alliance. The energy of this card is that of "coming apart," and indicates unbalanced relationships, failure to communicate well, failure to understand your partner and his or her needs, and an overall lack of support and appreciation in either direction among you and your associates.

It can also indicate circumstances where someone in a relationship is too possessive, dishonest, too demanding, manipulative, or cold. There is a severe lack of balance and equality in what should be a much more even or independent arrangement.

It indicates arguments, disputes, distrust, unhappiness, loneliness, and "feeling distant" from those who are supposed to care for you -- and about whom you, too, ostensibly care. This is an energy of unhappiness ... and feeling both unloved and unloving. This energy is out in the open ... where you can work with it directly and try to correct it. But as an asset, it may not be offering you much help in meeting the challenges of what you are trying to cope with.

Your own clear thinking and creative energies are right at hand and ready for you to use. You could develop and use your talents and abilities -- by making decisions you can trust and acting on information that is rock solid and true -- but for some reason you are failing to apply this asset properly. You may honestly know what to do, what to think, what direction to take, and how to see your plans through to completion, but you're not letting your self-reliance and sound intellect have enough influence to make a difference.

You may need to listen to your inner self (or a trusted, wise outside counselor), clarify your thinking, fortify your courage and finally say what you think and own what you know. The failure or unwillingness you have to use this resource may be costing you a lot at the moment. You may not understand how to use it properly, that you're not, or you may be in denial that it is as much of a loss as it is.

Sometimes there are no finer assets than straight thinking and straight talk, but you do have to be willing to stand up for your opinions, to share what you know, and stand by what you think. You may not be actively hurting yourself with your present strategies ... but you're certainly not making things as easy for yourself as you could be either.

Before long, you will meet a helpful person or adopt a very beneficial set of attitudes. This person is introspective -- but may have a very upbeat and enthusiastic personality. He (or she!) is loving, sensitive, caring, artistic, cultured, and eager to please. He may be quite imaginative ... someone who values both learning and social connections. Feelings are important to him ... and happiness in his world means having the opportunity to enjoy some of life's finer and more sophisticated pleasures.

He is diplomat, a natural psychologist, a peacemaker who knows how to work with the give and take of relationships. He has a kind, gentle, sentimental, and compassionate personality. He pays attention to his intuition ... and may be fairly described as "emotional" ... easily moved by empathy and concern. He is affectionate, easy to like, though also moody and idealistic ... possibly just a little too impractical and trusting to move easily through this world.

This energy may come in the form of another person -- or it may be parts of your own personality coming to the forefront to aid you or promote their own further development. It may also represent a sudden intuitive feeling, dream or creative inspiration about something you are trying to accomplish or become -- something which offers you the encouragement you've been looking for and enables you to go forward.

Further, it can signal the beginning of a new relationship, a new emotional connection, or involvement in a new creative venture. This is a signal to listen to your feelings, fantasies, and imagination as well as the contributions of the people around you.

Ultimately, you will come to a time when you withdraw from the stresses of the outside world, seeking the greater comfort and counsel of your own Inner Self. This may be a time of active spiritual seeking, of discovering life's meaning in terms of your own spiritual truth, of seeking your own direction and listening to your inner counsel. It will also be a time of creative visualization, of absorbing wisdom, of gaining greater insight, and setting personal goals.

Your compass at this point will be the dedication to do what is right and true for you, to be open-minded, quiet, and observant, to enjoy the comfort of your solitude and stabilize yourself and your expanding wisdom in the serenity available to you now.

This is a period of valuing your own time and space, of experiencing your own self-awareness, and having the patience to be tolerant, introspective, and questioning all at the same time. It is a time of contemplation ... and of drawing conclusions from the accumulated wisdom of your own life's experience.
