This is a reading on your relationships -- describing the major theme of your association with other people right now. This includes partners, friends, parents, children, other family members, and all others who are contained in the relationships that have your attention now.

A "problem personality" dominates your situation, someone fussy, complaining, overly sensitive, paranoid, frustrated, and emotionally undisciplined. This person may be often over-wrought and fretful, obsessive, clinging, and demanding of sympathy and "support" from loved ones -- while offering very little in the way of compassion or even self-control in return. You recognize the problems this person ... or these attitudes ... cause, seeing them for what they are. It is possible this also represents a part of your personality -- or attitudes triggered in you by the stressful conditions you are involved with.

Alternatively: This card could be suggesting that you need to practice more diligent self-care, be more aware of your own need for love, compassion, and emotional support. Often it comes when life and the demands of those in your relationships have exhausted your resources to the point that you need to pull back, take time out for recuperation, and replenish yourself.

You need to become your own best friend for a while ... and restore yourself to the point that you can be that for others again. This may not happen overnight ... but the fact is, you can't give away what you don't have for yourself in the first place -- and it's time to fortify your inner self, in whatever actions are needed, so that you can become a positive source of support for yourself and those you love ... again.

You are in conditions of conflict, separation, misunderstanding, and quarrelling -- possibly regarding an important relationship or alliance. The energy of this card is that of "coming apart," and indicates unbalanced relationships, failure to communicate well, failure to understand your partner and his or her needs, and an overall lack of support and appreciation in either direction among you and your associates.

It can also indicate circumstances where someone in a relationship is too possessive, dishonest, too demanding, manipulative, or cold. There is a severe lack of balance and equality in what should be a much more even or independent arrangement.

It indicates arguments, disputes, distrust, unhappiness, loneliness, and "feeling distant" from those who are supposed to care for you -- and about whom you, too, ostensibly care. This is an energy of unhappiness ... and feeling both unloved and unloving. This energy is out in the open ... where you can work with it directly and try to correct it. But as an asset, it may not be offering you much help in meeting the challenges of what you are trying to cope with.

You are coping with a problem personality -- or destructive set of attitudes. This person is domineering, obstinate, vengeful, cruel. She (or he!) places too much emphasis on her own image -- and is insecure in this identity. She is insincere, shallow, condescending, jealous ... and may pick at or find fault with others in order to undermine their confidence. This may be a tactic to build up her own flagging, unsteady self-image.

This person is also demanding, petty, rigid, vain, lacking in compassion and sympathy. Her attitudes are narrow-minded, bitter, controlling, ruthlessly competitive, and angry. She is self-absorbed, self-centered, and may be given to "ambushing" people -- as a tactic for gaining power. About the best that can be said of this energy is ... it's out in the open where you can work with and confront it directly. It's very easy to spot it ... and tell what's going on.

This may, indeed, be another person you have to cope with -- or it may be an inner personality of yours that is causing trouble, and that has come to the surface now so you can confront and correct its counterproductive effects.

Alternatively: This may be a signal you need to turn inward and reconnect with the inner self that provides confidence, leadership, and support for your sense of who you are and what you can do. This may require some deliberate effort and a recognition that you are badly out of touch with these important character components. If you resonate to this meaning more strongly than to the presence of a difficult person -- or a counter-productive set of attitudes, consider this is the message the card intends to deliver to you now.

Either way, this arrangement has a significant influence on your thinking, on the choices you make, and on the way you view the circumstances you're working with now.

You have come through a time of significant difficulty, serious enough to be termed a crisis, and have found meaning and solid ground again after coping with these upsetting -- and even abusive -- experiences. This new level of wisdom is an asset you can use in this situation now, applying the strength and greater perspective you have gained by virtue of overcoming this period of sustained trouble -- and surviving.

You have, as an unused asset in your situation, a helpful person or a very beneficial set of attitudes. This person is introspective -- but may have a very upbeat and enthusiastic personality. He is interested in learning who he is and what his "mission in life" may be about. He has ambition and charisma. He is learning to make his mark on the world ... even if through the sheer force of his personality -- which may be substantial.

This person is energetic, volatile, impulsive, and likes to stir up excitement. He is outgoing, generous, innovative, competitive, positive, and bold. He is interested in becoming all he can be -- and is a natural leader, although he may be relatively "new" at the tasks that occupy him at the moment.

He will clearly have the potential to "get noticed" and develop a following. He takes risks, shows determination, is always up for "learning more" ... and may be willing to "try anything once."

This energy may come in the form of another person -- or it may be parts of your own personality coming to the forefront to aid you or promote their own further development. It may also represent good news about something you are trying to accomplish or become -- something which offers you the encouragement you've been looking for and enables you to go forward. You may not realize you have this resource available, however, or you may not be using it to best advantage.

You are heading for a situation that contains heartbreak, sorrow, abuse, setbacks, and shattered emotions. This situation may also hold a lack of appreciation, betrayal, injury, separation, grief, and terrible disappointment. While on the surface this energy represents the heart and head at odds with one another ... the reality is often extremely painful.

Far more upsetting than your thoughts telling you one thing and your heart another, this energy usually contains disbelief that you have been treated so badly by someone you care for ... and the realization that you have to get over loving and needing someone who could hurt you this way.

This energy is that of being victimized, harmed, even brutalized physically or emotionally. It may also indicate you have done this to somebody else ... but either way there are karmic liabilities being formed here -- and the eventual, inevitable backlash may be pretty severe.

You are heading for a resolution where there is a lot of uncertainty, where you will have to listen to your feelings and play your hunches -- because there is much more happening beneath the surface of reality than meets the eye.

You may have to wait a while for the pattern and order here to reveal itself properly. You may also need to have faith that things will work out as they should. This could provoke a lot of anxiety, but something important is coming together in the outcome of this situation -- and for a while, you will just have to exist on the edges of reality where "what might be" is still being solidified into "what truly is."
