This is a reading on your relationships -- describing the major theme of your association with other people right now. This includes partners, friends, parents, children, other family members, and all others who are contained in the relationships that have your attention now.

A problematic personality or attitude, someone negative, sarcastic, sly, critical, opinionated, argumentative, and undisciplined poses considerable problems for you. This person is superficial, untrustworthy, and uncooperative ... a trouble-maker and a know-it-all. He or she either triggers these attitudes in you ... or you, too, are part of the problem.

These elements and responses may be part of your personality that you need to handle more productively. You may be coping with the results of "bad news" ... or you may be coping with the fact you've been working at cross-purposes with yourself.

In addition, you have someone who can help you in this situation. It exists in the presence of a powerful person of character and integrity who commands considerable influence and force. This could be another person ... someone whose leadership abilities and dedication to self-actualized goals are a compelling part of his nature, someone who leads by example ... and sets a most impressive tone with the choices he makes in his own life.

This influence, if it comes in another person, is charismatic, effective, authoritative, and brave. He (or she!) is a good counselor and a person of sound moral fortitude. He is someone you can both count on and confide in, independent, responsible, and solid. He will activate some of the best of these qualities in you, and provide an example of how you can grow along these lines, too.

Keep in mind, this energy may exist as a composite of several people ... if you don't see one definite example of this candor and strength among your immediate associates. This powerful influence may also be one of your own inner selves that has come to the forefront of your attention to help you ... and itself ... evolve and improve as you work through this issue.

If you don't find this clearly available in another person or people in your outer world, look within. This energy is waiting to meet you there. It is what will attract these others into your life to act as aids and allies if you need them. It can have a strong influence on your opinions, views, and choices in this matter.

You have a helpful person or a very beneficial set of attitudes in your situation. This person is intellectual, philosophical, profound, and studious. He (or she) is definitely a thinker ... perceptive, academic -- maybe kind of a bookworm.

He is interested in fairly sophisticated subjects ... like education, law, religion, theology, social problems, politics, spiritual subjects. He is either fairly young ... or may have recently started out on a new level of study and education -- either self-directed or formal. He may still need a little time to "season" in this field.

He is an independent thinker, a good communicator, someone who enjoys learning, investigation, and research. He may have a quiet, "watchful," observant personality. He may not be terribly forward or self-promoting, but he definitely knows what he thinks ... and how to handle information. He is a deep, incisive thinker, strong-minded, intellectually adventurous, smart, literate, mentally alert, a person of solid opinions.

He may be a good teacher and a good debater if you draw him out into such discussion. He is objective, fair, concerned with issues of fairness ... and loves an intellectual challenge. Questions without easy, pat answers appeal to him.

This energy may come in the form of another person -- or it may be parts of your own personality coming to the forefront to aid you or promote their own further development. It may also represent good news about something you think, it may provide information or a piece of knowledge you need to have, or it may "fill in the blanks" on some intellectual concern.

It may also give you a chance to exchange ideas with someone who shares your interests -- or teach you something new. This energy deals frequently in written or spoken messages. You are aware of its presence ... or its arrival ... and are able to make direct use of the benefits it brings. It plays a major part in your ideas, choices, and viewpoints on this matter.

You are in a situation that is sterile and unsatisfying. These are circumstances where you -- or someone influential in your situation -- is frittering away resources, wasting energy, and courting a whole roster of problems -- physical, financial, emotional, psychological. This situation contains a serious lack of love and support. You may feel rejected, depressed, deprived, and unable to muster the energy to start anything new.

This energy describes a lack of productivity, chaotic circumstances, feelings of emptiness and withdrawal, considerable pain, and the failure to use your creative talents to bring about the desired and necessary changes. You may feel there isn't much you can to do compensate for or correct the situation -- but at least the challenge is out in the open where you can work with it consciously and directly.

Right now timing problems are a significant factor. You feel delayed, stagnant, blocked and frustrated -- as if you are making no progress and not moving forward at all. You may "start pushing," trying to force something out of impatience ... perhaps unwisely. You may also show a lack of tact and diplomacy. You may feel the need to act out of your own pressures -- or to overcome the opposition you face. However, your anger and impulsiveness may backfire.

You may find you are trying to move in the wrong direction. This energy suggests ruthless, impulsive, ill-advised action. You may be pushing for a result prematurely, or "getting ahead of yourself," not understanding what you're doing or where you are going, or moving in the wrong direction. However, this card also suggests timidity and ill-advised hesitation. So you may not be pushing something that requires more decisive action to break the stalemate.

It can indicate a confusing, "mixed message" situation ... where you almost have to "go against your impulse" in order to do what is best -- to wait when you want to get going ... and "force the issue" when your inclination is to hold back. The fact that you haven't got a clear vision of just what response to make ... is working against you presently, more than you may realize. But you may also not be able to compensate for the problem -- or find a better alternative for the moment.

Soon, you will wind up in a situation that is confused, stalled, frustrating, blocked, and which doesn't let you live up to your potential. A lack of leadership, vision, personal commitment, and no overall sense of objectives or direction hinders any further growth or progress for the moment.

You may be caught in a sequence of false starts, misdirected energy, setbacks, delays, obstacles, and helplessness. You may also be dealing with uncooperative attitudes from others ... and from life itself. You are wasting yourself on this merry-go-round ... and wasting your time, resources, and abilities. You're just not getting anywhere ... until you make some changes to whatever is causing this inertia. Consider that at least part of the problem likely is you.

Ultimately, you will meet a person who is empathetic, supportive, and loving. She (or he) may be dedicated to home, family, friends, and her partner. She is in touch with her feelings and intuitions ... and honors these qualities in others. She brings joy, compassion, and sympathy to situations where her counsel is needed -- and helpful. She uses her emotional empathy to help others find their own answers, their own way, their own destiny.

She is sensitive to her surroundings, and may be creative, artistic, musical, or poetic in her interests. She enjoys serene, tranquil surroundings, and values the time in her own life to dream, imagine, and contemplate. She may support the dreams of others at the expense of her own best interests and development. She is "motherly," insightful, peace-loving, devoted, and faithful.

This may be another person in your situation ... or it may be an important part of your own personality that has come to the fore to help you work with this situation -- and to further its own development for use in the future.
