This is a reading on your economic situation at the moment. It deals with the investments, spending habits, management of income, use of possessions, and other physical resources which are central to your interest at this time. Because it deals with material assets, its information can also be applied to issues involving your health.

You have created circumstances where there is a huge disparity between the quality (and perhaps quantity) of work you do and the amount you are paid in return. You may be charging top dollar for incompetent, poor-quality products and services. You may be cutting corners, trying to "scoot by" with as little effort as possible, and you may even be doing things that border on fraud.

Or you may be dealing with people who are treating you this way, abusing your craftsmanship, not appreciating the effort you put out on their behalf, and trying to "get something for nothing" by giving you back as little as they can possibly get away with. If you are putting up with this treatment, you are shamefully complying in your own exploitation. Abuse is abuse ... and "good intentions" don't do much to change its ugly appearances or sad results.

There are indications in this energy that someone's vanity is way out of control ... that he is unjustifiably proud of himself, smug in his ability to beat the system, fleece the "suckers," ride on other people's coattails, or get what he wants "for free", not understanding (or maybe not caring) about the karmic implications and eventual backlash being created by his choices.

Realize, too, there is not much honor in playing the perpetual victim if you are the one on the short end of the stick here ... and are staying there so you can criticize others or use self-pity as a building block in the self-righteous image you may have of yourself.

By skirting the law -- cosmic law, human law, and the physical law of cause-and-effect, you are misapplying your skills, not respecting yourself, not insisting that others grow and behave themselves better, getting lost in the pettiness of life, bogged down in "the small stuff," and definitely going about things in the wrong way.

No matter which side of this transaction you are on ... as the perpetrator or the victim of this abuse, these are not circumstances to be proud of, and the longer you let them continue the harder it will be to break the habit. So you need to get to work on that ... and soon. You are too focused on short terms gains ... and taking the easy way out.

At this point, you at least understand as fully as you need to that this is happening ... and have some idea about the eventual cost this will entail to you if it continues. You are able to work with this issue directly and honestly -- and that's the first step to getting it fixed.

Your situation also involves money problems, material hindrance, uncontrolled spending, obstacles, and delays in your financial life. The energy here is that of "not enough money," a shaky position, monetary lack, and feeling victimized, exploited, powerless, and "taken advantage of." You may not have good ways to compensate for this problem ... but at least you recognize it for the handicap it is and are working with its limitations honestly and directly.

You are coping with a problem personality -- or destructive set of attitudes. This person is domineering, obstinate, vengeful, cruel. She (or he!) places too much emphasis on her own image -- and is insecure in this identity. She is insincere, shallow, condescending, jealous ... and may pick at or find fault with others in order to undermine their confidence. This may be a tactic to build up her own flagging, unsteady self-image.

This person is also demanding, petty, rigid, vain, lacking in compassion and sympathy. Her attitudes are narrow-minded, bitter, controlling, ruthlessly competitive, and angry. She is self-absorbed, self-centered, and may be given to "ambushing" people -- as a tactic for gaining power. About the best that can be said of this energy is ... it's out in the open where you can work with and confront it directly. It's very easy to spot it ... and tell what's going on.

This may, indeed, be another person you have to cope with -- or it may be an inner personality of yours that is causing trouble, and that has come to the surface now so you can confront and correct its counterproductive effects.

Alternatively: This may be a signal you need to turn inward and reconnect with the inner self that provides confidence, leadership, and support for your sense of who you are and what you can do. This may require some deliberate effort and a recognition that you are badly out of touch with these important character components. If you resonate to this meaning more strongly than to the presence of a difficult person -- or a counter-productive set of attitudes, consider this is the message the card intends to deliver to you now.

Either way, this arrangement has a significant influence on your thinking, on the choices you make, and on the way you view the circumstances you're working with now.

You are dealing with a personality or a set of attitudes that can be quite positive and helpful. This person is "successful" in the conventional career and financial sense of that word.

He (or she) is a business person, and entrepreneur ... someone who may have sacrificed a great deal for the commercial and professional status he enjoys today. He enjoys staying busy. He sets a practical example for others regarding wealth and the use of material resources -- but he may have neglected his emotional side in pursuit of public honor and regard.

He is a provider, an achiever, someone who enjoys prosperity ... and life's worldly pleasures. He is reliable, steady, solid, even-tempered, conventional practical, and analytical. He places emphasis on efficiency, reality, and having good "business sense." He believes in conservative, old-fashioned values and watching out for "the bottom line."

This may be present in the form of another person -- or it may represent parts of your character that have come to the forefront to help you develop it further. This energy is an asset you can readily use to good advantage.

A problem "personality factor" is affecting your situation, someone who is financially dependent, ill, or physically helpless. She (or he) may be impractical, wasteful, status-conscious, materialistic, superficial, judgmental, and irresponsible. She may be making no use of her own abilities, not trying to care for herself physically, unable to manage her economic life, and constantly in need of support and rescue.

She may blame others for her problems, be critical, fault-finding, and hard to get along with, have a confused professional life or unrealistic ambitions, and be full of great dreams and fantasies -- but with no actual achievement to back them up.

This may be another person. This may be the response elicited from you as a result of the stress you are having to handle, or it may be one of your own inner selves coming to your attention for you to notice and adjust. You may not see a good way to eliminate or compensate for the problems this causes -- or you may be in denial about just how much of an impediment this really represents.

Soon, you are heading into a time of unexpected, serious, and sudden changes. This energy is that of disruption, sweeping -- even catastrophic -- changes and adjustments. Old ideas -- even previous ways of living ... end. This may indicate a breakdown in conditions you'd considered solid, permanent, and reliable. It may be brought about by a sudden insight ... or information you'd not previously known -- or been taking into account.

Realize that dramatic as these experiences may be, they can also usher in times of considerable improvement. You are releasing old ways of life, old habits. This may coincide with a dramatic expansion of consciousness or perspective. There is also the possibility of a disturbing "message of truth" you will have to accommodate. You may find you literally see the world as never before. Your whole picture of reality may be different.

This is a change in your overall view of life and your psychological programming. A basic belief about yourself, your circumstances, and "the way the world works" is in the making. Keep reminding yourself, times of crisis can also be ones of great growth.

Eventually, you will realize the presence of a powerful intellectual force. This may appear in the form of another person ... someone whose mind is his (or her) most compelling feature, someone who is a fighter, a survivor, who doesn't quit when the going gets tough. This influence, if it comes in another person, is charismatic, influential, authoritative, and wise. He shows great intelligence and originality in his work ... and his counsel is priceless.

He is able to generate a wide range of helpful ideas, thought, concepts and designs. His knowledge is one of his greatest virtues ... and his ability to apply that in practical ways makes him an invaluable counselor and confidante. He may be more rational than sentimental, more hard-headed than soft-hearted, but he does have an important and powerful role to play in your life ... at least temporarily.

He is fair-minded, in command of himself, and able to think his way through tough issues and arrive at workable, moral solutions. He is focused, assertive, shrewd, insightful, and genuine. He is also self-disciplined, articulate, impartial, and philosophical. He will activate some of the best of these qualities in you, and provide an example of how you can grow along these lines, too.

Keep in mind, this energy may exist as a composite of several people ... if you don't see one definite example of this wisdom among your immediate associates. This powerful influence may also be one of your own inner selves that has come to the forefront of your attention to help you ... and itself ... evolve and improve as you work through this issue.

If you don't find this clearly available in another person or people in your outer world, look within. This energy is waiting to meet you there. It is what will attract these others into your life to act as aids and allies if you need them.
