This is a reading on your relationships -- describing the major theme of your association with other people right now. This includes partners, friends, parents, children, other family members, and all others who are contained in the relationships that have your attention now.

You are involved in experiences that include serious quarrelling, anxiety, and deep philosophical disagreement. This is an extremely disagreeable situation, containing, as it does, elements of defeat, unfairness, failure, slander, cruelty, cowardliness, and malice. You may feel you have been treated unfairly ... or realize that you have done so to others. (Possibly both.)

This is a situation of insensitivity, fear, the realization that you are not following your conscience -- if you pause long enough to rationally consider what is happening here. You are pushing an issue ... or using force ... to no good avail, often to avoid changing your mind about something dear or important to you. Or you are feeling coerced and pressured to change your opinions ... or surrender your ideas ... by circumstances or another person.

This is an energy of victimization, and because energy is always a two way street, you may be either the victim, the perpetrator, or quite likely ... both. You may have to cope with feelings of revenge, the consequences of your self-defeating actions, or the consequences of ruthless responses.

Even "winning" here gains you nothing but an empty victory. You are likely locked into circumstances which involve mind games, game-playing, scoring points, getting even, and working to get "one up" on someone else -- and vice versa. You need desperately to change your thinking.

You may not see a good way out of this situation ... or how to compensate well for the considerable problems this is causing you, but at least at this point, you understand the seriousness of these complications and are working directly and consciously to see what can be done with them.

You have circumstances which are acceptably satisfying, but tinged, nevertheless, with mild regrets. You realize "what might have been" if you had made different choices, applied different logic, acted more decisively, or used your advantages with greater skill. You may see how to do things better next time. You may even be planning for them.

There is also a problem personality complicating the picture, someone who qualifies as a real trouble-maker. There is a sly cunning to this character, and a secretive, scheming "mean streak" that may make him (or her) particularly hard to get along with. Attitudes of aggression, sarcasm, cynicism, and pettiness dominate -- along with an insufferable spirit of narcissism that may be almost impossible to stomach. You are aware of this ... and you understand how much impact this person or these attitudes have on your own outlook and thinking.

Alternatively: You may need to refocus on your own thinking, opinions, and the way you express your ideas. You may be acting on wrong information. Your prejudices or a serious misunderstanding of the facts could be having too much influence on your thinking. You may be pushing your opinions too hard and alienating others from considering your views objectively. You may realize you've been too one-sided in your thinking or that you haven't been listening well.

You may have decided to pull back for a while and reconsider some of your stronger views and the way you express them that could actually be either misguided ... or hurting your own cause. If you resonate to this meaning more strongly than to the presence of a difficult person or unproductive set of personal attitudes, consider that this is the message the card is giving you on the matter at hand.

You are in a time of unexpected, serious, and sudden changes. This energy is that of disruption, sweeping -- even catastrophic -- changes and adjustments. Old ideas -- even previous ways of living ... are coming to an end. This may indicate a breakdown in conditions you'd considered solid, permanent, and reliable. It may be brought about by a sudden insight ... or information you'd not previously known -- or been taking into account.

Realize that dramatic as these experiences may be, they can also usher in times of considerable improvement. You are releasing old ways of life, old habits. This may coincide with a dramatic expansion of consciousness or perspective. There is also the possibility of a disturbing "message of truth" you will have to accommodate. You may find you literally see the world as never before. Your whole picture of reality may be different.

This is a change in your overall view of life and your psychological programming. A basic belief about yourself, your circumstances, and "the way the world works" is in the making. Keep reminding yourself, times of crisis can also be ones of great growth. At least you are able to work with this energy openly and directly.

You are still recovering from a time of sorrow or sadness over a relationship that has come to a close or the processing of a serious disappointment. This is a challenge you have to face and cope with, but you may prefer to push it aside or ignore it for the time being.

In the short term, you may face difficult choices because of conflicting needs and elements that don't accommodate one another well at all.

This will make a dramatic change for the better in your circumstances ... an improvement almost as magical as a stroke of good luck.
