This is a reading on your economic situation at the moment. It deals with the investments, spending habits, management of income, use of possessions, and other physical resources which are central to your interest at this time. Because it deals with material assets, its information can also be applied to issues involving your health.

You are in a situation where doubt, pessimism, and a stubborn lack of perception -- almost a resolute failure to "get the message" or "see the truth" are very much in evidence. This may include a loss of hope or faith, feelings of rejection and confusion, a serious identity crisis, and having to handle the serious problems stemming from your own lack of bad judgment.

You may have a pervasive negative attitude to overcome. You will be coming to terms with past mistakes and trying hard to put things -- including your own experiences -- into perspective. You will feel helpless, victimized, uninspired, and "in the dark." At the very least, boredom and a lack of new goals will cause you considerable aggravation.

This is a time of sadness ... and sufficient discontent to cause mental and emotional problems. Your poor self-image and failure to use your own talents properly may be major causes of your defeated hopes. Your self-doubt not only has sabotaged your past at this point ... it continues to corrupt and jeopardize your future. You need to connect with your personal stamina, convictions, and courage again.

A problem "personality factor" is affecting your situation, someone who is financially dependent, ill, or physically helpless. She (or he) may be impractical, wasteful, status-conscious, materialistic, superficial, judgmental, and irresponsible. She may be making no use of her own abilities, not trying to care for herself physically, unable to manage her economic life, and constantly in need of support and rescue.

She may blame others for her problems, be critical, fault-finding, and hard to get along with, have a confused professional life or unrealistic ambitions, and be full of great dreams and fantasies -- but with no actual achievement to back them up.

This may be another person. This may be the response elicited from you as a result of the stress you are having to handle, or it may be one of your own inner selves coming to your attention for you to notice and adjust. It is having a significant influence on your thinking and your choices at this point.

Alternatively: This card could be suggesting that you need to step back, go inward, and consider how you are failing to nourish yourself properly, or failing to provide for and support yourself properly. You may be trying to "take care of everybody else" ... to your own detriment. It's time to reconsider the load you are trying to handle ... and what you may be getting in return for all the effort you are spending.

If you resonate to this meaning more than to the presence of a problem person ... or a difficult set of your own attitudes, it is likely this is the message the card is sending to you.

You are in a situation that involves the depletion of physical and financial assets. Something did not pay off the way you expected it to ... or it cost you a lot more than you realized -- or hoped. It's possible you made a major purchase (although it's also possible what you "bought" was the sad wisdom of experience.) Or you may have "invested a lot of yourself" into something -- that hasn't yet yielded the dividend you're looking for.

At the moment, indications are it either won't give back what you intend, or the investment will take more time to mature than you've realized. You have to work with the possibility that you are overspending; incurring money problems; investing yourself, your time, and your talents poorly. You may not be living up to your potential -- or achieving the gains you intend to make.

You may have jeopardized yourself without realizing it ... or exhausted yourself to no ultimate benefit. This matter has your full attention now ... and you understand the impact it has on your thinking and your choices.

You are facing the fact you've not yet succeeded on some important project or level of experience in ways that please you. Something you may have been working on for a long time still "falls short" of your goal in ways that require you to try again to bring this arrangement to a successful completion.

You are in circumstances where your prosperity is threatened. You may be dealing with money that has strings attached, circumstances that are unfair, where money is combined with ulterior motives, where you are not getting what you deserve, or where you are not recognized or rewarded properly for what you produce.

This energy also entails financial manipulation, coercion, unethical practices, greed, and misrepresentation. Somebody is being cheated. Whether you are the victim or the perpetrator, you will need to correct this situation ASAP. You may not see a good way to deal with or compensate for this situation ... or you may be in denial about the extent to which it is handicapping your successful resolution of this matter.

You will soon however, have to cope with a lack in the quality or quantity of support you need to create the vision you have in mind. You may be teamed up with colleagues and allies that simply aren't up to the task at hand. Someone you are depending on may let you down with a thud -- or some crucial element in your creation will not arrive or will not perform as required. You need to look at the warning signs that tell you trouble is brewing here.

You are ultimately heading for an experience of emotional loss -- perhaps something from your past or part of your personal history that shows up again to haunt you. This may be something you know to expect -- something you have been able to predict, because the pain of this encounter is lessened somehow by its familiarity. This is a sad place you've walked through before -- perhaps in other guises ... but you know how this song goes -- and, worse, how it ends.

The feelings here are regret, resignation, sorrow -- but with a sense of "déjà vu". As I said ... you've been through this -- or coped with it -- before This may be a lesson you need to meet one more time -- as a way of helping you finally find the ways to get past it!! However, despite the brave front you may manage to put on ... this is still something that could hurt -- more than you realize.
