The Delights of Delectable Venus
You and the Goddess of Earthly Enjoyments
You'd think Venus would be everybody's favorite planet. It rules, among other things, love and money -- two topics that get a ton of attention in the media and in the goals many people apparently set with their behavior. Sex and money. Messages, concerns, advice, and images about both assault us constantly.
These interests are often the common theme in advertising we cannot escape -- on radio, television, billboards, magazines ... and the internet. You almost can't get through an evening of prime time television without being hit with a boner-pill commercial -- and in this, an election year, concerns about the going-to-hell-in-a-handbasket economy are on the rise. Sex and money. It seems they are what makes the world go 'round.

The Drumbeat of Mars
Marching to Its Own Militant Music
The glyph for Mars in Astrology is the well-known symbol for male in biology. Even in this stylized representation, it is phallic, sexual and blatant in what it depicts ... and anyone who has ever seen one of "the real thing" it signifies recognizes it at once. Mars, and the energy associated with it, is assertive, aroused, fired-up, on the prowl and ready for action! No wonder it has such a formidable (and sometimes forbidding) reputation among the more timid and peace-loving souls of the Zodiac. Mars' Prime Directive is to advance, to conquer, to compete ... to win. And it makes no apologies for that.
Mars is the ruler of Astrology sign Aries ... not a group of folks you want to tangle with unless you're ready for a scrap -- but definitely folks you want on your side if force -- for whatever reason -- may be necessary. Mars is pushy, self-starting and brimful of initiative. It is great at inspiring new forms of self-expression -- and giving them form ... so others can understand and benefit from them. Mars gets things done. It makes advances. Progress is its most important product. It does not sit around and wait for help, permission, or even a more congenial set of conditions -- not when it's got a goal to chase ... and nothing better to do with its time.

Jupiter Retrograde
Jupiter Rx is the cosmic indicator that the time has come for "humankind" to back up and evaluate the important areas of concern it rules. You will assess, either actively with decisions and effort, or through dreams, or through just idle moments of reflection and musing, what you have accomplished so far ... and how you need to expand on your original opportunities and intentions.
When Jupiter is direct, you are aware of wanting "more," or receiving "more" in certain areas of your life -- depending on where it is transiting in your chart. When Jupiter is direct, your ambitions rise. You want to do more, experience more, encompass more, offer more, have more, share more, learn more, teach more. The list goes on and on.

Celebrating the New Moon in Taurus
Well, as I've written several times elsewhere, traditional Astrology associates Taurus energy with money. It's easy to see why. Taurus is possessive, acquisitive and practical. It loves its physical pleasures. It loves the things money can buy. No other sign in the Zodiac appreciates material reality with the gusto and joy Taurus shows with such demonstration!! Taurus loves to make money. It loves to spend money. It loves to own stuff!!
But on a more basic level, Taurus is about supporting itself as a spiritual being in a physical world. It's about survival as well as enjoyment. It's about using resources wisely ... deciding what's important ... and thereby affirming its values -- whatever those may be. It's also about lingering long enough to savor the sensations ... and making the most of the moment. (Taurus can dawdle and stall longer than anybody you ever saw in your life when it's made up its mind not to move!! Or hurry! In fact, Taurus hates to rush. Period. And so it doesn't. End of story.) Taurus knows how to be here now. And that is a lesson worth learning.
And so, after the push and hustle of Aries, we get a chance to slow down, catch our breath ... and watch the world go by -- that streaming parade of folks who haven't got enough sense to pause or ponder when they have the chance!! The climate associated with Taurus energy is quiet, firmly grounded, practical, easy-going, and hedonistic.
We could all use a bit more of this attitude and pace in our lives. Especially now. Be sensible.
Go with the Flow.

When Jupiter is in Capricorn
When Jupiter is in Capricorn, people use the education, advanced knowledge and special interests they've assembled over the past decade to build a better career for themselves. They look for (and find!) ways to expand their public life and professional prestige. During the transit of Jupiter in Capricorn, they may cut back on some of the diversity they've welcomed -- and cultivated -- in the past in order to focus on more specialized projects.

What Does the Future Hold?
If you were born with the Sun in Taurus
A real astrology forecast
if you were born with the Sun in Taurus
What does the future hold if you were born with the Sun in Taurus? Here is a brief synopsis of the major themes unfolding in your life now. The earlier you were born in the sign of Taurus (during the last 1/3 of April), the more likely you will see these opportunities and changes underway for you now. If you were born very late in the sign of Taurus, it may take a while for these to become apparent in ways you can recognize and relate to ... but they are happening, nevertheless.

Acting from the Center of the Sun
Acting from the Center of Your Self
Astrology is not about magic, or superstition or self-delusion. Essentially, Astrology is about symbolism ... knowing how to read the code of life that the patterns in the stars depict, not because the planets and other heavenly bodies Astrology uses in its language are in certain signs or locations per se, but because certain cycles of life's creation we have yet to fully understand -- and yet to really define any other way -- occur with a rhythm and regularity that coincides "accidentally," if you want to look at it that way, with the travels of the stars and planets through certain Zodiac positions in the sky.
When you know the code, you can read the message. It really is as simple as that. Much of Astrology is based on the metaphors of real life, provable science, facts as solid as they come. But from there the interweaving of scientific fact with symbolism, metaphor and mythology takes Astrology out of the category of hard science and puts it in the realm of mystical studies and sometimes even psychology, especially the kind Jung wrote about, crosses over into that borderland.
