Mercury in Scorpio trine Uranus in Pisces

Well, I wrote a few days ago that we were in kind of a good-news-bad-news phase with this Scorpio cluster, squared off against the loose Saturn / Neptune opposition. Yesterday's email was definitely on the glum side ... and Thursday's will be, too. So ... here's the spoonful of sugar in between, for all of us who sure could use a little good news today!! (And tomorrow, it's not just a spoonful of sugar ... it's a celestial peppermint drop as Venus conjuncts Jupiter. One of the nicest of all the cosmic treats!! Pay no attention to that dour old Saturn behind the curtain. At least give yourself some time and space to enjoy the available magic.)

This second trine between Mercury in Scorpio and Uranus in Pisces marks the beginning of "phase two" of the ingenious new ideas that have been knocking around in the back of your mind since this pair first met a month ago. It's still time, though, to take notes and keep an open mind while your imagination works to help you see the true shape of what's forming for you in the future.

That happens toward the end of this month. And after Mercury conjuncts Jupiter (both having moved into Sagittarius) on December 10. So listen to what you have to say to yourself for the next few weeks. Your mind ... and your thoughts ... are where reality is forged ... and where all change, all progress, all the good things in life begin.

Venus in Scorpio square Saturn in Leo

This is the third planet in the Scorpio quintet to walk into a disagreeable conflict with Saturn. The Sun will take his place in the hot-seat (no pun intended) late Thursday night. Mars will be there on the 28th ... and we'll finally get Mercury turned around, moving forward and past the danger zone on December 4. Until then, traditional ways of thinking (especially traditional ways of thinking about yourself and your abilities), are in for a mighty hard ... what's that word again (???) ... oh, yeah. Thumpin'

Saturn squares are notoriously unpleasant, lonely, aggravating patterns. And squares to Saturn in Leo point to you and your shortcomings as a big ingredient in the problems that beset you. It can be a time of harsh self-judgment because of a serious disparity between what you want, what you need, what you think you deserve, and what you can actually provide to solve some of the issues you face.

Will it get better? Yes, it will, but not for another month ... and then, as I've described in other issues of Step by Step, the "relief" comes gradually, while the pain is right here, right now, and all at once. It will take a while to slog out of this mess, for as I've also written ... change on this intense a level, even changes for the better, are rarely comfortable. But December / early January will bring a sea change to what's going on ... now.

Mercury conjunct Mars in Scorpio

The last conjunction between these two was in September ... and in Libra ... when "forceful diplomacy" was still the strategy of choice, and compromise on points of contention may have been a much more plausible path. Now, in resolute Scorpio, retrograding Mercury (intellect and communication) has joined adamant Mars (force and initiative) to produce a blend that is ready to back up ideas with action -- and may not give much warning when it moves. This is especially true given that Mercury in Scorpio is legendary for keeping its own counsel, keeping plans secret until the last moment, and not revealing a fraction of what it knows ... or thinks.

With Mercury retrograde for another week, action (some of it radical) is being considered, groundwork laid, and strategies concocted with the intent to make important changes in at least one area of your life. There are few combinations as determined as this to link decisions and desire ... and make things happen. Given that Mercury is still retrograde at the moment ... it may not quite be time to put your money where your mouth is ... but you are definitely advised to put your hand on your wallet (or your checkbook), because the investment opportunities arriving soon will carry a price tag ... and maybe a need to "pay for damages."

Besides, when this pair meet again, for the last time in this cycle ... on December 9 in Sagittarius, you will be more than ready to you-know-what or get off the pot. And it will be more than time to do so!! The expansive energy of Sagittarius will set the scene then. So, yes, it's time to think, talk, research, plan ... and know that the time between here and there is the wind-up for the coming spectacular pitch!!!

Mars in Scorpio trine Uranus in Pisces

This combination brings a fierce resolve to make some changes and improvements in relationships, alliances, and investments in order to bring you more of the personal freedom and "custom-fit lifestyle" you are bound and determined to have. As an extra dollop of icing on the cake, positive Mars / Uranus blends show particular inventiveness and skill in acting to achieve their aims. (Does it seem like I harp on this issue of independence and building a spiritually congruent lifestyle an awful lot? Well, it's true. And I'll drop a footnote at the bottom of this Ezine today explaining why ... for those who'd like to know.)

Ok ... so why has the mantra of "I gotta be meeeee, I gotta be freeee" become such a constant chant in the world, in my writing, and possibly in the back of your mind, too? Well, for about the last 2 1/2 years Uranus and Neptune have been in a relationship astrologers call "mutual reception." This is a fancy way to say each planet is in the sign the other rules. Uranus is in Pisces ... and Pisces is ruled by Neptune. Neptune is in Aquarius ... and Uranus rules Aquarius. It's a fairly specialized arrangement ... and of course, it can happen with any pair of planets.

Your first reaction may be to yawn and ask, "Who cares?" ... but if you have planets in mutual reception in your Natal Chart, you'll have a heavy, heavy emphasis on the issues signified by that planetary pair as your personality develops and your life unfolds.

By way of example ... here are some other possible combinations of planet pairs in mutual reception: Sun in Aries / Mars in Leo (Sun rules Leo, Mars rules Aries.) Squares between Scorpio and Aquarius show a conflict between your need to form (or maintain) profitable alliances to which you contribute essential resources which only you can provide, and an equally powerful desire to be free, free, free to do your own thing without constraints. Sometimes these show up in real life as crises or major upsets to which you must respond ... and which appear to limit your independent choices in ways that are especially vexing.

Mercury in Scorpio square to Neptune in Aquarius stimulates your imagination with visions of "what could be" if you manage to implement the ideas you provide to your teamwork efforts ... but much of what you think now simply isn't practical, because it's way too idealistic. Mercury conjunct Venus and The Sun in Scorpio

This is a powerful energy of rethinking relationships, rethinking the part you play in your relationships, and reorganizing your relationships for more satisfying results in the future. Once Mercury (intellect and logic) goes direct again, Venus (relationships and $$$) and the Sun (personal power and ambition) will have spread out so that the next conjunctions happen months apart. Mercury next conjuncts the Sun in Capricorn late on January 6th ... next year. It conjuncts Venus in Leo (for crying out loud!!) in August of next year -- and then only because Venus itself is retrograde. They'll chase each other in a game of "almost tag-you're-it" all during the meantime.

So ... if you're ready to rethink your relationships and spending choices in your personal life, work and career area, or governmental affiliations ... it's time to get on with it.

I am concerned about the sharp square to Neptune the components of this triple conjunction make over the next few days. Squares to Neptune suggest dreamy, idealistic attitudes, letting your imagination run away with you, sabotaging yourself through a lack of initiative and taking too much at face value. (They also indicate outright lies you prefer to believe -- or not, whichever best suits your own wishful thinking.)

We'll talk about that tomorrow. I would say "try not to be deceived by romantic promises and unreliable appearances" ... but this Mercury / Venus / Sun cluster is so ready for change it's willing to take its chances and hope for the best. When it comes to matters in your personal world ... try to keep a close rein on your fantasies ... and wait for the moment you can take off your rose-colored glasses, because you've found your real ones again (the bifocals with the clear lenses and the comfortable fit!!) It'll come in a few weeks.

The Moon in Taurus opposing the Sun in Scorpio

The Full Moon rose tonight ... a splendid spectacle of the Lunar Goddess in full regalia ... facing a contingent of Scorpio oppositions this year. The Taurus Moon will oppose The Sun, Mercury, Venus, Mars, and Jupiter ... and square Neptune and Saturn in her travels today and tomorrow. So, expect the emotional climate to be dicey ... at best. The official Full Moon forms around 6 AM (Mountain Time) Sunday morning ... at 12° 58'.

Astrologically, the Moon in Taurus opposing the The Sun in Scorpio brings up issues of property and wealth, control over possessions, and the ability to work with possibly diverse abstract values. It's literally "the other side of the coin" from the Full Moon issues we handled back when the Moon in Scorpio opposed the The Sun in Taurus in May.

If you have placements in your Natal Chart in Taurus, Leo, Scorpio or Aquarius, especially if these are in the last half of the sign, these next two weeks could stir up some real emotional turmoil regarding your security needs and private life arrangements ... and how you accommodate all the changes and improvements that are in the works now. With so many planets strolling through Scorpio now, we have -- as I've said previously -- a fair amount of repetition in the description of what's going on in life for all of us. (Can you say "obsessive?") But we also have a series of "good news / bad news" moments setting up as well.

The Sun conjunct Venus conjunct Mars in Scorpio

These are the first three of several more conjunctions in Scorpio we'll meet over the next several weeks ... with so many fast-moving planets lined up now together in the sign. The Sun, Venus, and Mars will all conjunct Mercury and Jupiter -- also now in Scorpio -- during November. And since both Venus and Mars are astrological citizens involved with the expression of love and desire ... and since Scorpio is such an emphatically sexual sign -- concerned as it is with the profound creative aspects of sexual expression ... let's acknowledge here and now that "passion" of all sorts may be highly visible and deeply felt for a while. And with the Sun involved, your ego is on the line ... a player in the game as well.

While Venus in Scorpio can be exceptionally possessive and manipulative when it comes to partners, allies, and money (the old "what's ours is MINE" philosophy, IN SPADES!!!), Mars in Scorpio (or any Mars / Pluto combination such as Mars / Pluto aspects, Mars in 8th House, Pluto in 1st House, etc.) is astonishingly ruthless when it comes to taking action and getting things done. It doesn't get tangled up with a lot of sentiment -- or hesitation -- or even mercy -- once it's decided what needs to happen and that change is both inevitable and necessary. Ok. Somewhere, this energy is moving through your life now. And if you haven't seen its outlines yet ... you will, before the end of the year.
