The Sun, symbol of ego concerns and personal focus goes into Aries today, where it will stay for a month. This, of course, begins the period where Aries energy dominates in attitudes and concerns throughout the world. When the Sun is in Aries, people use their personal energy more aggressively, directly, and competitively than at other times.
They value behaviors and methods that are forceful, vigorous, energetic, self-initiating, pioneering and bold. You may find these attitudes playing a greater part in your outlook and decisions now. The natural flow of energy encourages you to be more decisive, direct, and willing to seize the initiative. There is a definite independence of spirit available to you.
This energy is known for being direct, blunt, emphatic and concerned with winning. There is extra emphasis on self-assertion, expressing your intentions and pursuing your goals, making an impression, getting noticed, and "taking on the world." Your approach to the outside world -- and to life -- will become a little pushier now, more competitive, more willing to stand up for yourself and fight for what you want.
People in general will be concerned with leadership issues, making progress, "getting their own way," and "taking care of Number One." It is, after all, spring ... and after the dormancy of winter, the sap is rising once again. In the coming weeks, expect to feel yourself seized by new ambitions and desires, infused with greater self-confidence, and blessed with more physical energy, too.
What you could be short on is patience. There is a feeling of urgency in this energy, a longing to move forward into new action and excitement -- even if that means blazing new trails. This is, after all the energy of the warrior and the pioneer. You have more self-sufficiency at hand -- and not a lot of tolerance for waffling or hanging back. You may well feel: "He travels fastest who travels alone" -- and be out the door and several miles down the road before your usual companions even know you're gone.
Under stress, people may be unusually belligerent, argumentative, touchy, impatient, pushy, uncooperative, cranky, and rude. They will also be intolerant, irritable, temperamental, contrary, and quick to take offense. As part of humanity, you will feel these impulses, too, when life gets tense. Reactions and responses now can be ... well, combative and confrontational. So keep a grip on your self-control when you feel the pressure mounting. You may save yourself some grief if you do.

Pluto is going retrograde today until very late in August. This is almost certain to affect some area of your life -- but perhaps not as extensively as the Saturn influence we discussed earlier. We will probably put up a series of webpages in the next couple of days to accommodate this material, since it's already written and finished. It's just a matter of organizing it for you to get easily.
So ... back with more in a little while. Meanwhile -- have a great day and enjoy the beginning of Aries. (Hallelujah!!)

It's kind of an interesting time in the sky right now. Venus in Aries is providing a nice fulcrum point in the middle of the Saturn / Neptune trine. Mercury is trine to Jupiter. The only potential fly in this ointment is the square between Mars and Neptune, but it is a considerable one.
Venus in Aries signifies the assertive handling of money and relationships. Its position now over the next week or so offers great opportunities to use solid, constructive, practical work and ideas (Saturn in Gemini) and generous amounts of original creativity (Neptune in Aquarius) with direct, candid, self-assurance -- effort that will easily gain the help you need in your supportive relationships -- just for the asking -- and let you invest resources wisely to reap a tidy profit later on.
Mercury in Pisces trine to Jupiter in Cancer is a great energy of intellectual encouragement and expansion -- in signs that lend a tremendous amount of intuitive wisdom. This may not only depict the arrival of inspired ideas and concepts, but give you the added bonus of being in the right place at the right time -- for the best kind of "luck" to present itself, like a gift.
It is definitely a time to follow your inclinations ... and dreams, especially if you are involved in any kind of artistic work or creative efforts.
Mars in Pisces, however, is a complex energy with plenty of pitfalls to consider. First of all, it's an indicator of taking action secretly, privately, covertly. This can certainly describe a desire to maintain strict confidentiality about your work -- for any number of legitimate reasons ... including everything from simple shyness to outright paranoia.
But, you may also be acting out of anxiety, phobic responses, or even obsessions -- for the darker sides of this energy include "acting compulsively" -- or even insanely. It can indicate you are acting without all the information you need -- or perhaps acting on incorrect information.
It indicates taking action indirectly or obliquely because of -- or despite -- fears you may not want to acknowledge. It can also indicate sabotage and self-sabotage -- and being blocked by something you can't define, describe, or "get a grip on," something nebulous, mysterious, or intangible.
In other words, something sneaky or unknown may be happening behind the scenes and out of sight that hinders your action or that will cause you to act differently once all the pieces to the puzzle reveal themselves.
So, while the creative ideas may be fabulous -- the action you take at this time may not do them justice. Or you may be reluctant to openly reveal just what is going on -- for some reason. Or someone else's behavior may undermine your efforts.
The best advice here is to take good and complete notes on your inspirations for use later -- like about the end of May, first of June -- and especially through the summer. This will satisfy for the time being the Mars / Neptune need for privacy and discreet action. A major change is in store for these plans, however -- in early to mid-May, as Mars conjuncts Saturn along with several other important placements in Gemini and opposes Pluto. (I know, this may sound like so much Greek to some of you ... and I do try to speak English instead of "astrology.")
But I'll write more about this whole influential configuration as the time gets closer -- when you can see the outlines of what is happening in your individual life more clearly than you will at the moment. For now, just know to keep the ideas that come to you safe and sketched out ... and don't put a lot of permanent work into implementing them, because there will be a major shift in your approach in a couple of months -- and the way that eventually arrives for you to accomplish this work will be much better than what exists at the moment. But it will be a novel and unexpected experience, nonetheless.

Expect Monday to be a strangely "directionless" day ... as the Moon in Taurus forms no exact aspects whatsoever all day long. This is a different kind of energy than the The Void of Course Moon, where, as I've explained in the past, everything that originates during that time is sort of doomed and futile.
Things begun on Monday will reach completion, but with some surprises along the way -- and some unexpected benefits. However, Monday itself will feel unfocused, open-ended, receptive instead of active, and kind of drifty instead of "to the point" and moving toward closure. You'll see what I mean.

Mercury has gone into Pisces. It will be there until March 29. When Mercury is in Pisces, ideas are very diffuse, creative, intuitive, imaginative, and saturated with emotions. Thinking shows a strong capacity for empathy, idealism, discerning insight, and access into the creative channels of the subconscious mind.
This energy is known for being compassionate, empathetic, impressionable, psychic, mystical, and visionary. People may feel a need to retreat into solitude, meditation, contemplation, daydreaming or some artistic pursuit.
Mercury in Pisces can literally provide a channel into conscious reality from direct contact with the Divine Source more easily than any other combination. It is malleable, inspirational, and transcendent. Accordingly, styles of communicating may be vague, occasionally unfocused and fraught with feeling.
Under stress, communication and styles of thinking become helpless, hypersensitive, impractical, confused, disorganized, neurotic, fragile, secretive, deluded, gullible, unrealistic ... and in worst cases obsessive, paranoid, and completely out of touch with reality.

We finally have enough subscribers to this version of Step by Step from the United Kingdom to warrant putting GMT notations into the descriptions, especially when the Moon goes Void of Course.
Meanwhile, The New Moon in Pisces occurs tomorrow, very late in the day in the U.S. (902 PM ET, 602 PM PT -- 202 AM THURSDAY morning GMT) At that point it is The Void of Course Moon. (See table below) For now, life's natural energy levels are at their lowest ebb. This is a time astrologers call The Dark of the Moon ... which is conducive to bringing matters to a close, tying up loose ends, resting, planning, being quiet and reflective.
For the next couple of days, don't start anything new. For sure don't start anything important. It will not come to fruition. Wait for the better, more positive change in outlook and opportunities that will arrive as the Moon's movement into Aries connects life's live wires back together again. (See table below)
