Venus in Pisces sextile Mars in Capricorn

Well, it's not the stuff of great poetry ... but this combination is the best the universe could provide, apparently, for a rather sober Valentine's Day this year ... with The Sun still opposing Saturn for a while longer, and the Moon in austere Capricorn all day. To call this mood grim and reserved may be paying it a compliment.

It is not a day made for romance ... unless you're into formal contracts in the name of love, handshakes (or chaste pecks on the cheek) instead of passionate kisses, and offers of partnership that are durable, sane-and-sensible, and well-mannered. Sure, that kind of commitment has its place in the constellation of human connections ... but, wow. It's kind of like a Valentine's card with a painting of "American Gothic " on the cover as the best gesture of affection you can arrange.

Even this little Venus / Mars sextile, which can be perfectly charming in other signs ... seems kind of sparse on sentiment this year. Venus in Pisces is quietly loving, charitable, idealistic, and often self-sacrificing. Mars in Capricorn is reserved, principled, taciturn ... and very much involved with "prim and proper" conduct and "rules and regulations." If I had to depict this pair in something from fiction ... I'd point to Grace Kelly and Gary Cooper in "High Noon." (And there's a part of me who still thinks she should have left him ... stayed on the train ... and found somebody who knew how to keep a promise. But that's the self-sacrificing part of this duo I mentioned.)

If you have Natal Chart placements near 21° of Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, or Pisces ... these next few days may bring some nice little bouquets and tokens of enjoyment into your life ... the gentle, subtle kind you know how to appreciate and that spell "love" in your language. This extra placement draws "extra issues" and other pieces of your life into this subdued celebration of partnership and affection. The symbolism of this other placement, and the sign and house where it resides will describe the nature of this extra benefit.

The mood of the Moon in Capricorn is reserved, conservative, and sensible. It's not a terribly romantic climate to have around on Valentine's Day. Love with the Moon in Capricorn has a no-nonsense, business-like quality -- more like a formal agreement or a contract. But what declarations of affection do come are well-considered and sincere. With the Moon in Capricorn, people are looking for love they can count on to endure ... and relationships that last!!!

The Moon goes The Void of Course Moon in Capricorn at 8:24 PM (MT) Wednesday night. And goes The Dark of the Moon in the wee morning hours of Thursday ... so aim for a calm mood, and a quiet, subdued atmosphere to round out the week.
