Mercury in Aquarius sextile Pluto in Sagittarius

Since Mercury is retrograde, this is actually the second time this aspect has formed recently. The first instance was described in the February 1 issue of Step by Step, in whose text I noted that this influence was going to hang around a while. Well, we're kind of in the middle of it now, since the third of these aspects will form after Mercury goes direct ... which will happen on March 7.

This sextile will occur for the final time on March 16th ... and Mercury will very soon afterwards move back in to Pisces and from there move out of its own shadow on March 27. After that, you'll start to see the results of all this preparation and background effort come together in meaningful ways in your life ... and the outside world.

So clearly, we're going to be involved in this groundwork a little longer ... and for all the time its taking and the clear amount of set-up and education going into the new ideas you and everyone are concocting now, the payoff when it comes (and you get to see it, as I said, "in the real world") should be quite striking. Anyway, you should see more of the picture this energy represents at work in your life now ... and in the spirit of Mercury retrograde itself, let's review what I wrote a month ago ... and keep its message in mind as we move into the month ahead. Welcome to March, everybody!!

Often Mercury transits are so quick and commonplace their true benefits get "lost in the crowd" ... overlooked in the swift current of life's normal rhythms. But this one ... because it hangs around so long ... and because it will occur in three different phases, may be different.

As I said, look for news or inspiration soon ... and a revision of plans based on this around the end of February / first of March ... and ultimately a decision to finalize options and move in new directions -- probably ones you don't see yet -- toward the end of March / first of April when Mercury moves out of its own shadow -- that is, when it passes the degree at which it went into retrograde ... which in this case is 10° of Pisces and "moving on past that point" ... which is coming up finally on the 27th of March.

Wherever this sextile falls in your Natal Chart, you will be working with ideas, concepts, viewpoints, perspectives, information, your mind, and your ability to use what you know and communicate well (through reading, writing, speaking, studying, etc.) .. in the areas of life ruled by the house that holds transiting Mercury -- and applying what you learn and what you think to make substantial, permanent improvements in the affairs of life ruled by the house that holds transiting Pluto.

The Moon in Leo manages to make "lemonade from lemons" out of the mish-mash of this month's transit through that sign. So maybe that's a piece of news to savor. If you've been feeling anxious and distressed about some difficulty or problem ... look for a sea change of welcome clarity starting mid-day. The Moon is void of course in Leo beginning at Noon today (MT) ... and moves into Virgo at 2:32 PM (MT). So enjoy a few hours to rest and collect your thoughts this afternoon before taking up the practical matters and healing benefits the Moon in Virgo usually brings in its knapsack of goodies. If you concentrate on "tending to routine business" as best you can for a day or so, you may salvage something worthwhile from what I'm going to describe next.

To be honest, though, even the Moon in Virgo is not in good shape this month. It doesn't form a single beneficial aspect in this sign as it transits the next two and a half days ... and we're looking straight at the Full Moon itself (the mother of all "ambivalent moods") tomorrow afternoon / late evening. So ... hang onto your hat. These March winds are going to blow for a bit, and this week-end may not be all that smooth emotionally.

You may have to handle a lot of distractions, mood swings, and "jitters" in the middle of trying to just get stuff done ... and get past the whirlpools into calmer waters!! (The Pisces / Virgo energy blend in turmoil can be really uncomfortable when trying to find some kind of balance. And that's what we're dealing with for a while. So knowing to expect the storm surge may help you find an anchor ... or at least a handhold ... until it blows over. It will.)

But as the Moon moves into Libra on Monday, life straightens nicely. (Don't you hate it when you're glad to get back to work???) Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday are all looking really good at this point. And Mercury goes direct on Wednesday night. (Are you as ready as I am??) So, if you can manage not to get buffeted about too much by "what happens next" in the coming couple of days, you'll thank yourself for your level-headed grace under pressure. Assuming that's what you manage to create!!
