The Full Moon
The Moon in Libra opposing The Sun in Aries

A wispy skirt of gossamer clouds cushioned the Full Moon in Libra this morning as we drove out for doughnuts before dawn ... to enjoy the final moments of the cool night-time, and be somewhere besides "in front of the computer" for a while. They're doing major construction on the highway between where we live and Albuquerque, putting in a concrete center divider ... which will certainly cut down on the number of yokels who decide to cross the median to make a U-turn in the middle of the Interstate ... a practice which is almost a ritual around here. But driving through the construction zone during heavy traffic has been a mess for months. So we use the late night and back roads whenever we can.

I don't know why the Full Moon nights seem to often find us out and about, running errands, going for groceries ... keeping company with the other lunar-types, I guess. But the spectacle is always lovely ... and if you get a chance to enjoy it yourself, give your soul a treat.

The exact Full Moon arrived Monday mid-day ... at 11:15 AM (MT) at 12° 35'. The Full Moon always occurs when the Moon is in the sign directly opposite the Sun in the Zodiac. Hence the reason The Full Moon always rises in the East as The Sun sets in the West -- and why we were able to watch the Full Moon setting through the clouds as we drove west into Albuquerque in the last hours before dawn.

In astrology, an opposition between the Sun and the Moon always indicates a hyper-sensitive situation, where emotions are on full display, and "other people" are more easily able to jerk your strings and get on your nerves. It's also a situation where options are more readily available -- but so are ambivalence and confusion. You may see life more readily from "another person's point of view" ... but you'll also feel constrained to take this other perspective (and these other people) into account, when that may not be convenient -- or even agreeable for you. The feeling of division ... within yourself ... and between "you and them" ... mirrors the testy, irritable mood of this time.

The Full Moon between the Aries Sun and the Libra Moon brings this situation front and center in ways that are rarely comfortable. This is the conflict between "your individual interests and wishes" and "other people's agendas and designs" ... in spades. The energy of the Sun in Aries is assertive, competitive, forceful, and independent. The energy of the Libra Moon is cooperative, sociable, concerned with other people, and wants everything to be "nice."

ALL the Lunar aspects are good today ... so whether you're celebrating Passover, or just trying to "make it through Tuesday" ... you should have a very enjoyable time! The Moon goes void of course in Libra just after 8:30 Tuesday evening (MT) and moves into Scorpio around 10:30 PM (MT). That change is not quite as pleasant a voyage as it was last month with the Sun in compatible Pisces, but we'll hear more about that more tomorrow.
