There is one simple reason I don't drive as much as I used to these days.

I prefer to use my feet for short distances. One Sunday I had two hours between performance and rehearsal and I decided to walk from the theatre to a restaurant three blocks away from the theatre for some respite and refreshment.

Every yard in the unfamiliar neighborhood seemed to hold a dog (or two) who enjoyed greeting me with raucous barking and tail wagging.

I blessed a newly painted house. It looked proud with its new coating.

My eyes caught the sight of a purple morning glory, crowning the vines of green with its opalescent shimmers.

It held my heart deeply the simple wonder of its presence.

I kept walking.

I remembered a forgotten idea, a dream of sorts. The blessed house and the crowning morning glory had conspired to remind me.

I would have missed both if I had been living in my former business-as-usual, rush-rush-rush, "let's get there as quickly as possible" frame of mind.

Choosing to pause, to wait, to express yourself differently in any small chunk of time will bring you dramatic and long lasting results. Your changing experience may start, perhaps, as a tiny mist at first which will eventually turn into a torrential downpour of life energy.

It will bring enough energy to fill a river, a lake, an ocean of joy where your mind and heart and soul can playfully frolic and swim. You might even water ski, or snorkel, float or sail a boat.

All of this magnificence happened because in a split second of time you decided to use your feet. Or perhaps you chose to take a class. Or make a telephone call to a new friend. Or roller skate instead of walk.

It's your turn.
