Are you a nervous wreck who seems to find new things every day to worry about? If so you are part of a large group of people, multiple millions who suffer from worry and stress related symptoms. Most of the people who suffer from worry and stress problems do not get help. They fear that they will be seen as weak, inferior, and unable to work through problems.
This is false and if you are one of these millions, please know it is OK to work through these fears and feel proud of yourself when you handle things well.
First of all, are you a chronic worrier? How many of these statement apply to you?
- Frequently feeling keyed up and on edge
- Easily fatigued, no energy
- Hard time concentrating, mind going blank
- Irritability and lashing out at people
- Muscle tension, headaches, unexplained aches and pains
- Unable to relax Pessimistic, thinking the worst
- Hard to get to sleep, restless sleep
- Unable to shut off worrisome thoughts
- Startled easily, overreaction Shakiness, trembling
- Feeling of dread Nervous stomach, nausea
- Worried about things that probably will not happen
- Feeling inferior and asking for reassurance frequently
- Sweating, having facial tics,
- Pacing, unable to sit quietly,
- Heart palpitations, jittery feeling
- Specific huge fears such as of planes, dogs, elevators
- Social anxiety and feeling inferior
- Afraid to try new things
- Negative about life's possibilities
If at least 15 of these statements describe you, you are a worry wart. What that means is you are a person who is always thinking ahead, planning for any contingency, trying to avoid pitfalls, and being very concerned about your health.
Now, does that sound all bad? Remember, our greatest weakness can also be our greatest strength. Did you know that worriers tend to take better care of themselves and end up in less trouble financially than others?
Worriers are always making sure a plan is available for the worst situation. It's true that you have trouble being spontaneous but when you go on a vacation you won't forget anything. You will be the parent who knows where the kids are and watch their friends carefully.
You will not settle for doing a job poorly and if you are going to do something, you are going to do it right. You are the person who is watchful over your family's health and who gets them to doctor's appointments. You don't run out of gas or forget to pay the bills.
So remember to look at the positive side of your personality when you get down on yourself. And for tips on dealing with stress, go to my site at Stress Relief 911.
