Advice for Living

Who's In Charge Here?
understand how you could have that reaction to life. I feel that way part of every day! Yes, on the most basic level, our personality is not running the show. The soul calls the shots behind the scenes. Yet, allowing the soul to guide it, the personality can feel-and be-in control. When a Hollywood movie is being made, the most important question to be decided is: "Who is going to have 'creative control' of the final cut?" Your life is a movie. Your movie. You have the final say over the final version-day by day as you choose what to believe, speak and do.

Energy is Contagious
Lessons in Courage and Kindness
Decide what version of contagious energy you want to bring into the world and then commit to spreading ONLY this version instead of something else. Practice careful, conscious speech, action and support. Energy is contagious. It is up to you to decide what form of energy you want to spread.

Dealing with Anger
Anger ... how we struggle with this primitive, upsetting emotion. Denied to women, it was at the same time the "all purpose" emotion for a generation of men -- the only legitimate way they could express any emotion, since tenderness, grief, shame and sympathy were women's territory.

Fair Fighting
Do you ever worry that if you argue too much with your spouse you'll end up getting a divorce? Some people believe that when two people are happy in their relationship, they should never argue. However, in real life, disagreement is inevitable at some point in any relationship. Excessive fighting can certainly take a toll on you and your relationships. Heated arguments with your partner in which there is a great deal of blame, criticism, or withdrawal are bad for your health.

Pour Yourself Another Cup of Coffee
Well, I came across an article today that supports what I've said and written about in passing for years. Coffee ... and, yes, the caffeine in coffee ... helps keep you mentally alert and clarifies your thinking. Again, my recommendations that you can use this as a mental stimulant to perk you up and help you think better have always included the words "in moderation." It still does. Again, too much coffee too fast can give you a caffeine buzz ... and lead to a blood-sugar crash which is absolutely no fun. Not any part of it.

Be Here Now
Mystical teachers often quote the simple advice, "Be here now." It's an interesting thought for almost any time, any place. It invites us to focus, to enjoy the present, to be aware of what's happening around us and in us so that Life's details and precious moments don't just slip away. It's a form of "Carpe Diem!!" Seize the day -- and savor the experience.
The first time I heard it ... "Be here now" ... it sounded silly to me. I've had that reaction to lots of metaphysical teachings through the years. This is no way suggests I didn't need to listen to them ... and understand them ... and start to live by them. But my first response was "Where else would anybody be?" We all live in a shining, constant present. Or do we?

The Action in Attraction
10 Things You Can Do Today
Successful people have taken the time to clearly define their life vision and are willing to take action on fulfilling it every day. Action leads to movement, which leads to momentum, which naturally draws more of the 'good stuff' to them. The desire to meet a challenge and succeed has been a part of many cultures throughout history. The ancient Peruvians used to draw out their goals in symbols and paint them in primitive colors on the walls of caves. Likewise, we moderns have an innate need to live a fulfilling and meaningful life. However few of us seem to be able to attract more of what we really want. Writing can help immensely.
