From Jan 2002*
A very interesting pattern is arranging itself in the sky at the moment. The Sun, Mercury, Venus and Neptune are all conjunct in Aquarius ... sextile to Mars in Aries ... trine to Saturn in Gemini ... inconjunct to Jupiter in Aquarius (and on Saturday morning the Moon was also part of this arrangement) ... and are mediating the loose opposition between Saturn and Pluto.
The Sun, Mercury, Venus, and Neptune conjunction brings a powerful merging of ego energy and interests, combined with intellectual focus and communications ability, combined with connections to money and relationships, combined finally with spiritual inclinations and mystical inspiration ... all together in one tight package in the highly progressive, altruistic, and future oriented sign of Aquarius.
The individual results that derive from the experiences of this time will mirror this multi-faceted arrangement, in your life and in the world around you. In the natural flow of available energy now, you (and everyone else) are firmly fixed on the future, on long-term goals and ambitions, on experimentation with ways to improve the quality of your life -- and that of "society in general," if possible, and on bringing a greater spiritual dimension into your everyday existence. This is a time of comprehensive, revolutionary, and ground-breaking liberation and reform.
With Sun conjunct Mercury ... you (and everyone else) are highly invested in your personal opinions, knowledge, and ideas ... some of which may be quite spectacular and extensive in their impact -- so do let the brainstorming begin ... or continue!! With Venus as part of the mix ... partnerships, your participation in relationships, your identification with your abstract values, and the way you acquire and spend your money may be included in the end product of what you create from all this marvelous inspiration.
Neptune's presence adds karmic overtones to what you may produce in the next several weeks ... as well as a special mystical and artistic "edge" to your creations and insights that may be ... well, awesome ... in its final form. What you think, what you do with those insights, and how you act to bring them into reality will show a special genius that is arguably magic as it is meant to be displayed.
If you are involved in anything creative -- from actual art to the fashioning of new life circumstances for yourself -- this would be a good time to keep a journal of your ideas, take notes on the possibilities that present themselves -- and the notions flash through your mind ... and watch for the world to open paths that are quite possibly miraculous. With Mars in Aries ... the ability to act on these things for a positive outcome is possible in ways that have not been available for nearly 50 years.
With Saturn in Gemini ... your ability to turn these abstract inspirations into tangible "art" ... honest-to-God solid things of substance and worth ... is also right on hand for you to claim! You may find yourself able to use your mind, your talents, and your energy in ways that amaze you -- and the sheer momentum of all this power may carry you quite a way down the road. The true results of this may not even plant itself fully in your vision until after Mercury goes direct and passes over this place again -- say toward the end of February. So watch for that to blossom as well.
March ... as Sun / Venus move into Aries, and Mercury now moving "direct" goes on into Pisces,. ... and Mars goes about its business of solid, practical, physical building in the financially-focused sign of Taurus ... may bring another delightful "new wave" of effort along with fresh avenues to make all this ingenuity and initiative pay off in true coin of the realm. (The problem then will be that the square to Jupiter may tempt you to overextend yourself in your commitments ... and hand you more opportunities to pursue than you can possibly handle without being triplets.)
But -- that's an interesting embarrassment of riches to have to handle. As all of these Aquarius planets (specifically Sun, Mercury, and Venus ... as well as Mars in Aries) move to aspect Pluto (the Aquarius placements by sextile, Mars by trine), a revolutionary change in the goals you are working toward -- even the kinds of goals you are working toward will take place.
This is an extremely creative and fortuitous time to be laying the groundwork for new ways of living, new ways of using and acquiring money, and new ways of thinking about yourself and your world. What do you want to accomplish with the rest of your life? The world is literally your oyster as you frame an answer to that question.
Expect the ripples of what begins now to play out beautifully over the next year or so -- especially during the signs of Gemini (with the conjunction to Saturn offering solidity ... and the opposition to Pluto during that time forcefully changing your direction into "something better!!"), Cancer, and Leo (with the sequential conjunctions between the Sun, Mercury, Venus, Mars, and Jupiter playing themselves out in those two signs). By then, the Saturn / Pluto conjunction will be separating and weakening as well.
There will, of course, be more to say about all this as that time comes closer. Meanwhile ... listen to what your artistic, financial, and personal inspirations are telling you. Watch for the arrival of new knowledge and information to help you move these projects forward. Prepare to follow through with assertive and pioneering action. And by this time next year, you will look back at what happened in the interim -- with enough perspective to appreciate how your world was transformed by events and choices unfolding now. It's time to be brave and take risks to reach your dreams.
With the inconjunct between the Aquarius stellium and Jupiter in Cancer, the need for family and private life adjustments to accommodate your ambitions and commitments ... and the need to find ways to fit all this into your work schedule may become part of the challenge. Also, do watch your tendency to try to "do it all" ... because that temptation will certainly be strong -- and yet your physical health and stamina may suffer under the load. Remember you are human. It's your potential that's infinite.
In other news:
The President's State of the Union message unfolded in true bureaucratic fashion under the Void of Course Moon Tuesday night ... so don't expect anything to come of that performance. What unfolds on the world and national scene will bear no resemblance to things contained in that rhetoric. But then, you didn't need an astrologer to tell you that. Did you?

The Sun in General -- Your Essential Self of Power, Will, Vitality and Ambition ---> The essence of you -- In Astrology, The Sun represents your basic core identity. It gives information about the qualities of your ego, your individual self-expression, your self-image and your sense of personal identity. It depicts both the essence of who you are and how you define and reveal yourself to the rest of the world.
The Sun -- Ruler of Leo -- Symbol of Your Essential Self ---> The Sun, without which life on Earth could not exist as we know it, is the astrological metaphor which symbolizes an individual's basic personality, the underlying canvas upon which all the other colors and elements of his character are co-mingled and combined. The Sun and its meaning are the centerpiece in the structure of Astrology.
Conjunctions of the Sun -- When the Essential Self Merges with Another Inner Self ---> When the Sun and another Inner Self join forces -- Conjunctions involving the Sun merge the Sun's symbolism of self-image, creative effort, personal pride and initiative with whatever the other planet (or planets) symbolize. These two are then joined together as a unit.
His Majesty ... The Sun -- The Center of Our Solar System ---> The Sun is perhaps the most rudimentary and reliable chronometer ... "measure or marker of time" ... we have. It is certainly the most obvious. It rises every morning ... and sets every evening. It has been doing so for millions of years. It will continue this rhythm past the time limits any human mind can imagine.
What Do Sun Aspects Show? -- The Presence and Behavior of Your Inner Selves ---> All aspects to the Sun affect how the person, entity or event you're examining expresses itself ... and how it is perceived. If you have aspects to the Sun in your Natal Chart -- and chances are you do, an unaspected Sun is rare but not impossible -- it shows influences from your family of Inner Selves that affect your self expression. Planets that aspect your Sun shape your sense of who you are -- your self identity.
What Does Mercury Represent in Your Natal Chart? -- What is it ... and why is it important? ---> In mythology, Mercury was the winged messenger of the Gods. -- Your mind -- at work and play -- In Astrology, Mercury represents your conscious, rational mind. It tells a lot about your intellectual self; your ability to study, learn, analyze, communicate and work with information.
Mercury in General -- Your Inner Selves of Learning and Work ---> Learning stuff, using your mind and putting it to work -- Like Venus, your Mercury energy describes two inner selves. One manages your mind and all its talents; the other is in charge of the work you do ... the ways you use your skills and abilities to help others and build the kind of life your want for yourself. Again, as with Venus, these are usually reduced to the basic categories of "mind" and "work," but they also include whole subdivisions of behavior and talents.
Mercury and the Miracle of the Mind -- Astrology's Search for Intelligent Life ---> As an Astrologer I see both the mundaneness of common knowledge -- handling the basic facts of awareness and everyday rituals -- and a touch of miracles in Mercury.
Mercury Retrograde -- Rethinking Your Present Direction ---> In the territory of the mind -- When Mercury is retrograde (Mercury Rx -- in shorthand), it is a time of rethinking, refocusing and re-communicating. In Astrology, Mercury represents your intellect; your mental focus; your mind and how you use its assets.
Venus in General -- Your Inner Selves of Resource Management and Relationships ---> Support comes in many forms -- According to dime-store astrology ... the kind most people know from the little booklets they buy on newstands ... Venus in Astrology rules the two alluring topics of money and love. Like Mercury, Venus rules two Zodiac signs -- Taurus and Libra, and there is, indeed, a connection here between Venus ... money ... and love.
What Does Venus Represent in Your Natal Chart? -- What is it ... and why is it important? ---> Pink is a Venus color. -- Named for the goddess of love -- Venus, modestly shrouded in clouds when photographed, is named for the mythological goddess of love. It is often seen as the evening star -- so bright and shimmering some say it gets mistaken for a UFO. Maybe. Maybe not.
Venus Retrograde -- Realigning Your Values and Assets ---> Reassessing things of value ... -- Venus represents your important relationships, your important values, and the way you handle the things you value, especially material resources like money and possessions you need to support yourself.
Your Venus Energy -- So much more than love and money ---> Named for the goddess of love -- Venus the planet, and therefore Venus in Astrology, is named for the Roman goddess of love. That's the short definition of what she symbolizes, and the minute people hear that, their ears perk up and they want to know more, more, more. Her Greek counterpart was Aphrodite, but that's not the "more" people want to hear. Like all short-and-simple answers to complex questions though, this one is misleading and woefully incomplete.
Born with the Sun in Aquarius -- The Aquarius Character ---> The symbol of Aquarius is the water-carrier. -- With a little help from your friends -- Friends play a very special part in the life of an Aquarius. In fact, for you, they make life worth living -- because they help make your contributions to the rest of the world possible. When the Sun is in Aquarius, people are adventurous, compassionate and imaginative.
Celebrating Aquarius -- The 5 most distinctive / admirable traits of the sign ---> Aquarius is the Winter Air Sign -- Perspective -- Their intelligence. Aquarius is hands-down the most cerebral Zodiac sign. The world of the mind and intellect matters to these natives.
