The Full Moon in Aquarius Opposing The Sun in Leo
Well, the full Moon between the Leo Sun and the Aquarius Moon has formed for the year, bringing an interesting tension to the fabric of daily life for a while. The energy of the Leo Sun is beyond question the most self-centered, self-involved, and dramatically flamboyant in the Zodiac. It wants to be noticed, applauded, and admired. It is notoriously willing to do anything for attention.
The Aquarius Moon, on the other hand, draws its fuel from the highly independent and altruistic character that is known as the humanitarian of the Zodiac, the ingenious pioneer with his eye on the future, and the ground-breaking rebel who is intent on finding a better, more inventive, or at least a different way to operate and live, while teaching the world about individuality.
At first glance, this doesn't sound like it should be such a problem ... until you understand the mighty ego that drives the Leo Sun ... and the aloof, disinterested, and emphatically idealistic attitudes on display in the Aquarius character. The Leo Sun, with its haughty air of superiority and disdain, is strangely dependent on the audience he plays to ... the assembly he aims to impress ... the appreciative constituency he wants to dazzle into adoring him and everything he does.
For all its air of majesty ... it is inevitably, almost pathetically, dependent on the envious opinions and approving gaze of others for its own sense of worth and identity. If and when the cheering stops ... the real terror begins.
For the Aquarius spirit, playing to an audience is a waste of time and energy. Its goal is on the improvement of life conditions for the masses ... tomorrow, and it really doesn't care about ovation, notoriety, or fame. The "contribution to the better future" it makes with its vision and ingenuity is what counts, first and always, with this contradictory, enigmatic energy.
It waxes poetic and misty over the idea of "humanity" as a glorious concept ... but can have trouble relating to real flesh and blood people. It wants the independence to experiment with its own originality and blaze its own trails "where no man has gone before." Whether its name is even known in the end is unimportant as long as "humankind" is served.
It certainly needs an acclaim of sorts ... but of an entirely different type than the personal charisma and craving for worship that are coin of the realm in Leo's world. The pull now for all of us now is the tug-of-war between these two powerful urges ... the desire to be loved for one's colorful style and the desire for independence so complete it virtually assures anonymity.
As long as one is caught in needing the esteem and attention of an audience ... that level of autonomy is never going to happen. But that doesn't mean the yearning goes away -- for either of them. Or us, for a while. Interesting dichotomy. For sure.

Shadows in the Moonlight -- The Full Moon and its Testy Temper ---> The Sun Opposing The Moon -- Who you are now vs. who you used to be The aspect of the Sun opposing the Moon is the classic celestial show the rest of the world calls The Full Moo. In Astrology, The Full Moon highlights tension between two conflicting desires, ambitions, requirements, or sets of values -- each a necessary part of life, and each somehow a problem for the other.
Fractiousness and Fracture Lines: The Full Moon -- The crisis is predictable. It happens every month. ---> One of life's great divides -- All Full Moons involve some kind of conflict. Usually, as the Full Moon forms ... and for several nights following, you feel pulled in two directions at once, required to try and serve two masters ... no matter how impossible you know that is -- logically. Life's demands in two opposing / competing areas become equally insistent and intense.
The New Moon in Aquarius -- Aquarius Energy in the Creative Process ---> Aquarius is the Winter Air Sign -- Celebrating Aquarius -- What would we do without Aquarius? I know. It's a tempting thought sometimes. Know someone who is truly "one of a kind" -- in both good ways and bad? whose zany sense of humor and little personal quirks are both endearing and infuriating in equal measures? -- whose outlook on life and unusual personal conduct can be exasperating beyond words but who doesn't give a flip, because he's here to please himself ... and not necessarily the rest of the world, you included?
Moon in Aquarius ---> Introduction -- The Moon travels completely around the Zodiac ... through all twelve signs every month -- a trip that lasts about 28.3 days each time. And it makes this circle 13 times a year. It stays in each sign about 2 1/2 days. Everyone gets to enjoy a monthly Lunar homecoming. Astrologers call this a Lunar Return.
