From Apr 2002*
The New Moon in Aries is a double dose of drive, assertiveness, ambition, enterprise, and the dynamic desire to start something new, do something bold, and take risks that might have been overwhelming or even foolish until now. This is, in many ways, the launching point of action and development for what will unfold over the next year, so plan your shots carefully and aim high.
On a lot of levels this moment of metaphorical union between self and soul in the sign of initiation and ground-breaking effort is the true beginning of the cosmic year. There is a tremendous amount of ambition, intellectual power, and creative discipline available to boost your efforts forward. This really is no time to be shy.
Consider that perhaps it's better to fall short while reaching for something spectacular than to hold back because you're afraid to take a big enough chance. (At least that's the advice from here. But then I was born under the New Moon in Aries. This energy is in my bones, and I will not spend my life wondering what would have happened if I'd only been a little braver. That's the spirit to use in approaching your own life this month -- and beyond.)
This year will see a lot of changes in established structures, "permanent arrangements," long-standing traditions, and entrenched ideas. A bold new perspective on your life ... and a new world-view for the planet ... is underway. Today's events mark an important point of beginning ... as the real work ahead gets the conspicuous commitment it needs to make progress, and the temperature rises. Everywhere.

Major Aspects of the Moon ---> The Moon in its travels -- The Moon, in its travels around the earth, cycles through all twelve signs of the Zodiac every twenty-eight to thirty days. It changes signs about every two and a half days. In each new sign, the Moon forms angles with the other planets in the sky, angles which are occasionally quite significant (called major aspects) and which mark the ebb and flow of both easy and irritating moments in everyday life.
The Moon in General -- Your Inner Self of Feelings, Emotions and Intuition ---> Welcome to your inner world -- In Astrology, The Moon represents our inner feelings, our emotions ... and our deep security needs. It reflects our basic habits, instincts and automatic reactions. It speaks to some elements of our Karma and childhood home, our upbringing, family background and specifically our relationship with our mother (or major mother figure from the past.) The Inner Self fueled by your Moon energy wants you to feel safe, protected, emotionally supported and "at home."
The New Moon -- A Milestone Celestial Event ---> When The Moon joins The Sun in the sky --
In astrology, the celestial phenomenon known as the New Moon occurs at the exact moment the Sun and the Moon occupy precisely the same point in the sky-map of the Zodiac -- the same degree and minute of arc in a particular sign. This alignment is known as a conjunction.
Shadows in the Moonlight -- The Full Moon and its Testy Temper ---> The Sun Opposing The Moon -- Who you are now vs. who you used to be The aspect of the Sun opposing the Moon is the classic celestial show the rest of the world calls The Full Moo. In Astrology, The Full Moon highlights tension between two conflicting desires, ambitions, requirements, or sets of values -- each a necessary part of life, and each somehow a problem for the other.
Fractiousness and Fracture Lines: The Full Moon -- The crisis is predictable. It happens every month. ---> One of life's great divides -- All Full Moons involve some kind of conflict. Usually, as the Full Moon forms ... and for several nights following, you feel pulled in two directions at once, required to try and serve two masters ... no matter how impossible you know that is -- logically. Life's demands in two opposing / competing areas become equally insistent and intense.
What Is a Conjunction? ---> Conjunctions are aspects in astrology where the planets or elements involved occupy approximately the same degree and minute of arc in the Zodiac. (In practice, an "orb of aspect" of 8 - 10 degrees is still considered a valid conjunction.)
The Sun in General -- Your Essential Self of Power, Will, Vitality and Ambition ---> The essence of you -- In Astrology, The Sun represents your basic core identity. It gives information about the qualities of your ego, your individual self-expression, your self-image and your sense of personal identity. It depicts both the essence of who you are and how you define and reveal yourself to the rest of the world.
The Sun -- Ruler of Leo -- Symbol of Your Essential Self ---> The Sun, without which life on Earth could not exist as we know it, is the astrological metaphor which symbolizes an individual's basic personality, the underlying canvas upon which all the other colors and elements of his character are co-mingled and combined. The Sun and its meaning are the centerpiece in the structure of Astrology.
Conjunctions of the Sun -- When the Essential Self Merges with Another Inner Self ---> When the Sun and another Inner Self join forces -- Conjunctions involving the Sun merge the Sun's symbolism of self-image, creative effort, personal pride and initiative with whatever the other planet (or planets) symbolize. These two are then joined together as a unit.
His Majesty ... The Sun -- The Center of Our Solar System ---> The Sun is perhaps the most rudimentary and reliable chronometer ... "measure or marker of time" ... we have. It is certainly the most obvious. It rises every morning ... and sets every evening. It has been doing so for millions of years. It will continue this rhythm past the time limits any human mind can imagine.
What Do Sun Aspects Show? -- The Presence and Behavior of Your Inner Selves ---> All aspects to the Sun affect how the person, entity or event you're examining expresses itself ... and how it is perceived. If you have aspects to the Sun in your Natal Chart -- and chances are you do, an unaspected Sun is rare but not impossible -- it shows influences from your family of Inner Selves that affect your self expression. Planets that aspect your Sun shape your sense of who you are -- your self identity.
Meditation for the New Moon Aries -- The Sun and Moon conjunct in Aries ---> Aries' symbol is the ram. -- Affirmations for the energy of the New Moon in Aries -- I use my impatience and anger constructively ...to make positive changes in my life. I respect the power behind my passions and desires ...and use this energy wisely. I use my self-assertion to build, manage, and supportthe conditions I
want in my life. I offer bold, affirmative leadership to myself and otherswith my choices and actions. With joy and gratitude, I launch my initiative ...to begin the important creations and projects of my life.
Moon in Aries ---> Introduction -- The Moon travels completely around the Zodiac ... through all twelve signs every month -- a trip that lasts about 28.3 days each time. It makes this circle 13 times a year. It stays in each sign about 2 1/2 days. Everyone gets to enjoy a monthly Lunar homecoming as the Moon returns for a few days to the sign it occupied when they were born ... their Natal Moon sign. Astrologers call this a Lunar Return.
When the New Moon is in Aries ---> Aries is the Spring Fire Sign -- Coming awake ... coming alive ... again -- The general tone of life for everyone is dynamic, excited, upbeat, and ambitious. After the quiet, reflective time of Pisces, the energy most available in the world is assertive, courageous, enterprising, and direct. New plans are coming together and are ready for attention, ready for launch, ready for action. This is a time of pioneering initiative, increased physical and sexual drive, and a definite emphasis on winning.
The New Moon in Aries -- Aries Energy in the Creative Process ---> We shall not cease from exploration And the end of all our exploring Will be to arrive where we started And know the place for the first time. T.S.Elliot Four Quartets -- The place of new beginnings -- With the arrival of Aries we have indeed arrived again at the place of our beginnings, having traveled another cycle on the spiral of the creative process ... from the initial thrust of new efforts and undertakings in dynamic, assertive Aries last year to the spiritual enlightenment, dissolution, acceptance, and release of Pisces last month.
