Sun Conjunct Mercury Conjunct Jupiter in Cancer
There has been a very nice alignment in the sign of Cancer over the last 24 hours. The Sun (ego energy and self-identity), Mercury (intellectual energy and personal viewpoints), and Jupiter (expansion, higher learning, and philosophical structures) have all reached approximately the same spot in the sky ... forming what astrologers call a conjunction.
A conjunction metaphorically indicates a union of the various energies involved in a "teamwork" effort that can be extremely productive -- especially given these specific energies. (Notice also that Mars just recently crossed this position as well, giving physical energy and initiative to the possibilities forming now -- as indicated by this most agreeable constellation!)
The Sun and Mercury will singly conjunct Jupiter every year ... and Mars conjuncts Jupiter every 2 - 3 years. It's unusual and fairly rare for them to combine themselves simultaneously in this wonderful little parade of power.
Their placement all together now -- as shown by this configuration -- offers us all a great opportunity to expand our philosophical base, apply our acquired education and knowledge, teach others what we know -- and have learned -- with the example of our own choices and opinions, and truly champion "what we believe in" in very public ways.
It's an unusually productive time of learning and growth in all the things represented by Cancer -- home and family interests, understanding of your psychological foundations and need for inner security, use of your intuitive abilities and emotional sensitivity, an increase in your regard for compassion -- and your ability to offer this to yourself and others, and an appreciation of history, traditions, and family connections -- both on a personal level and in ways connected to patriotism, ethnicity, and heritage.
People with their Sun, Moon or Ascendant in late Cancer (or very early Leo), late Pisces (or very early Aries), or late Scorpio (or very early Sagittarius) are among those whose lives are designated now to slip into high gear. Those with placements in late Taurus or late Virgo are also apt to benefit nicely from this energy.
Unfortunately, there's not a lot of help specifically in the sky for this wonderful cluster at the moment. The potential sextile to Venus is too far away to produce much. The semi-sextile to Saturn is minor ... and may take so much time to develop that it won't seem like there's much real connection to contemporary events.
The much closer inconjunct with Uranus (an aspect of adjustment and accommodation) suggests the potential for unexpected crises and emergencies ... which could trigger the need for you to apply this energy I've been describing in order cope with the experiences (some of which may be intense and upsetting) that spring up for your "greater education."
Sudden changes, transitions, deaths, accidents, the abrupt release of things that have become exhausted, worn out, or obsolete, or a significant disruption in the resources and assets you share with "other people" are denoted by this placement.
Now, granted, this all fits pretty well with the need for "adjustment and accommodation" -- and that's what's available in the sky right now to channel the awesome power of this energy on its own. But opportunities that may exist in your Natal Chart for individual benefit may make these next several weeks -- or months -- a genuine time to remember.

What Is a Conjunction? ---> Conjunctions are aspects in astrology where the planets or elements involved occupy approximately the same degree and minute of arc in the Zodiac. (In practice, an "orb of aspect" of 8 - 10 degrees is still considered a valid conjunction.)
The Sun in General -- Your Essential Self of Power, Will, Vitality and Ambition ---> The essence of you -- In Astrology, The Sun represents your basic core identity. It gives information about the qualities of your ego, your individual self-expression, your self-image and your sense of personal identity. It depicts both the essence of who you are and how you define and reveal yourself to the rest of the world.
The Sun -- Ruler of Leo -- Symbol of Your Essential Self ---> The Sun, without which life on Earth could not exist as we know it, is the astrological metaphor which symbolizes an individual's basic personality, the underlying canvas upon which all the other colors and elements of his character are co-mingled and combined. The Sun and its meaning are the centerpiece in the structure of Astrology.
Conjunctions of the Sun -- When the Essential Self Merges with Another Inner Self ---> When the Sun and another Inner Self join forces -- Conjunctions involving the Sun merge the Sun's symbolism of self-image, creative effort, personal pride and initiative with whatever the other planet (or planets) symbolize. These two are then joined together as a unit.
His Majesty ... The Sun -- The Center of Our Solar System ---> The Sun is perhaps the most rudimentary and reliable chronometer ... "measure or marker of time" ... we have. It is certainly the most obvious. It rises every morning ... and sets every evening. It has been doing so for millions of years. It will continue this rhythm past the time limits any human mind can imagine.
What Do Sun Aspects Show? -- The Presence and Behavior of Your Inner Selves ---> All aspects to the Sun affect how the person, entity or event you're examining expresses itself ... and how it is perceived. If you have aspects to the Sun in your Natal Chart -- and chances are you do, an unaspected Sun is rare but not impossible -- it shows influences from your family of Inner Selves that affect your self expression. Planets that aspect your Sun shape your sense of who you are -- your self identity.
What Does Mercury Represent in Your Natal Chart? -- What is it ... and why is it important? ---> In mythology, Mercury was the winged messenger of the Gods. -- Your mind -- at work and play -- In Astrology, Mercury represents your conscious, rational mind. It tells a lot about your intellectual self; your ability to study, learn, analyze, communicate and work with information.
Mercury in General -- Your Inner Selves of Learning and Work ---> Learning stuff, using your mind and putting it to work -- Like Venus, your Mercury energy describes two inner selves. One manages your mind and all its talents; the other is in charge of the work you do ... the ways you use your skills and abilities to help others and build the kind of life your want for yourself. Again, as with Venus, these are usually reduced to the basic categories of "mind" and "work," but they also include whole subdivisions of behavior and talents.
Mercury and the Miracle of the Mind -- Astrology's Search for Intelligent Life ---> As an Astrologer I see both the mundaneness of common knowledge -- handling the basic facts of awareness and everyday rituals -- and a touch of miracles in Mercury.
Mercury Retrograde -- Rethinking Your Present Direction ---> In the territory of the mind -- When Mercury is retrograde (Mercury Rx -- in shorthand), it is a time of rethinking, refocusing and re-communicating. In Astrology, Mercury represents your intellect; your mental focus; your mind and how you use its assets.
What Does Jupiter Represent in Your Natal Chart? -- What is it ... and why is it important? ---> Jupiter rules Sagittarius, the last sign of autumn -- November 22 to December 21. -- Opening up your world -- Jupiter, colorful and immense, dwarfs the Earth by comparison. It is named for the mythological King of the ancient Roman Gods. (The Greeks called him Zeus.)
Jupiter Retrograde -- Expanding Your Latest Creation ---> Jupiter's interests -- Jupiter represents your philosophical beliefs and ethical principles. It describes your ability to share authoritative knowledge ... the wisdom you've gained both through academic study and through the simple experience of living. These are the lessons you teach through the example of your own life by the ideas that guide your choices and the actions you take as a result.
