From Jan 2002*
The Sun in Aquarius is now sextile to Mars in Aries ... a nice aspect of progress and productivity that will last more than three weeks before it starts to diminish. Sextiles represent moments of opportunity and insight, moments when the energy of both the planets can be put to beneficial use, stimulated by the assets and qualities of one another.
With the Sun in Aquarius, you (and everyone else in the world) are concerned with having more freedom in your life, more opportunity to live by your own rules and standards. You are more interested in long-term dreams ... and the support of your best ideals. You are more adventurous, compassionate, and imaginative, willing to take more risks -- and dream on a much grander scale than in the ambitions your normal visions present.
You are more tolerant of other people's quirks and eccentricities ... but more insistent on indulging your own as well. During this time you are strongly attracted to novelty ... and in the mood to experiment. Aquarius energy has no patience for tradition, or regulations, or convention. With its influence sitting on your shoulder, you are ready to break out of your rut big time and see what happens when you take bigger chances.
You have no patience with restrictions that may have hampered or even crippled you in the past. You're not willing to "work around" inconvenience any more ... especially not for the sake of harmony or other people's comfort. You're far more inclined to tell others they can "shove it" ... when it comes to the annoyances, incompetence, and petty "rules" they expect you to put up with. You want answers that solve problems for the long term -- and are willing to act pretty forcefully to get these measures set up and in place.
This, of course, is a very good thing ... because the goals you are setting as your targets now require that kind of bold action ... and a willingness to throw the old rules out the window and set up ones that suit you better Your friendships may be especially active and important to you, too, because ... well, frankly, you may be looking for allies in what you'll be putting in motion.
You're looking for a bigger payoff from your professional activities, new horizons and the avenues that lead there for the creative projects that have your attention now, and a firmer grasp on your conditions for "the future," in general. Overall, it is a highly ambitious time for you and everyone -- and nobody has much patience with frustration. Aquarius energy under pressure is renowned for its explosive, unpredictable, and often exaggerated reactions. It is most definitely an energy to handle with care.
Fortunately at the moment, Mars -- the astrological metaphor for action and initiative, is perfectly primed to help all these wonderful changes happen for you. It's placed in Aries ... where action and ideas are virtually simultaneous. There's no lag time between the moment of insight and possibility, generated by individual inspiration or a brainstorming session with those friends of yours I mentioned, and the decision to move on your ideas, take action now, and get on with the changes you have in mind.
Mars in Aries brings the incredible energy of raw fire power to the highly oxygenated atmosphere of the air sign, Aquarius ... and between the two of them, they can generate power enough to light the world -- or burn it down, if they're of a mind to. Fortunately, right now, they're intent on benign purposes and constructive results. The emphasis, while it is emphatically still on change, is on new building efforts and creative benefits.
This combination is most willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done, but the first impulse to accomplish this is on the generation of ideas and strategies that don't deal with dynamite and Molotov cocktails. While this energy is looking for change and revolution, it's willing to do the groundwork and move things along in an orderly fashion -- as long as it sees progress happening fast enough to suit it. The revolution you'll most likely accomplish now involves positive, well-conceived, even inspired, long term changes ... not debris, rubble, and blood in the streets.
Notice there are a couple of caveats in what I just said, however. Neither of these energies deals with frustration quietly -- or calmly. This is not a combination that will sit and gently seethe under pressure. If it gets upset, everyone in a five mile radius will hear its complaints ... and rue the moment this feisty dynamo spun into high gear.
Take a close look now at what you want to accomplish with this energy. You've got plenty of time to accomplish things that contain this wonderfully productive force as part of its "natal chart." And when you're ready to act, don't dawdle. This energy won't be any kinder to your hindrances than to those from outside conditions. It's also a fairly rare aspect, this Aquarius Sun / Aries Mars combination. A quick look back through time turned up January, 1955, as the last time it happened. So ... take a deep breath, and get going.
