Hemispheres in the Horoscope
In Astrology, the horoscope is depicted as a circle which places the Earth at the center with the rest of the sky displayed around it. Here, you'll find the Sun, Moon & planets frozen in place at the exact moment meant to capture horoscope of the person or event the Astrologer wants to examine. This circle is a picture of the character you mean to investigate.
These celestial positions, the traits of the signs they occupy & meanings of the various house where they are placed describe the "personality" of the subject in the horoscope. This can be a human, an animal, the opening of a business, the start of a new job, a wedding which begins a new partnership, anything that has a beginning & a destiny waiting to develop.
There are two obvious ways to divide the horoscope in half. One way is vertically along the meridian that connects the 10th & 4th House Cusps.
The 10th House Cusp is known as the Medium Coeli (literally "the middle of the sky"), the Midheaven or the MC. These terms are interchangeable. The 10th House denotes one's public standing, professional endeavors, & career interests in the outside world.
The 4th House Cusp is known as the Imum Coeli (the bottom of the sky) or the IC. The 4th House denotes one's home, family, heritage, private life, history & living arrangements.
Then, you can divide the horoscope horizontally along the line that connects the Ascendant (Rising) or AC to the Descendant (Setting) or DC. The AC is the 1st House cusp, the chart area that describes one's personal presentation while the DC is the 7th House Cusp, the area that shows how one works with & manage partnerships / relationships / his dealings with "other people."
Each half contains 6 houses.

What is the Zodiac? ---> What is the Zodiac? ---> The Zodiac is an imaginary belt in the heavens approximately 20 degrees wide, containing the path of the Sun, the Moon and that of the principle Planets in this Solar System with the occasional exception of Pluto. It is divided into Twelve equal parts or signs, of 30 degrees each across its circumference. Each sign is named for a different constellation contained there ... and these comprise the list of astrological signs ....
* Dividing the Zodiac -- Organizing signs that share common ground ---> Mixing, matching and grouping the signs ---> There are several ways to divide the Zodiac signs into different classifications -- based on different criteria. The simplest way assigns gender to the signs. Signs are assessed as either masculine or feminine -- and it has nothing to do with sex. It has to do with temperament. Masculine signs are those who are proactive, assertive and initiating. Feminine signs are passive, receptive and responsive.
* Your Sun Sign, Moon Sign and Ascendant Sign -- Just What's Going On Here? ---> Three ways of defining you ... ---> The short answer to this question is: Your Sun sign tells about your basic ego, your Moon sign tells about you emotional inner self, and your Ascendant tells about your outer presentation to the rest of the world. If you want to know more ... read on: There are three main components an astrologer considers in developing a quick thumbnail sketch of your personality.
Why Take Astrology Seriously? -- Oh, the things Astrology -- can do for you!! ---> It's more than a newspaper fun-feature. ---> Astrology provides an interesting road-map that can help you "decode" some of the mysteries of your life, your relationships, other people, your individual past, your unfolding future, and your personal destiny. If you look at that list carefully, you'll see a tremendous wealth of material available through this often abused and misunderstood occult discipline.
Working with What Works ... -- Until something better comes along ---> It's not "the stars" ... ---> I can understand why logical, rational people meeting the ideas of astrology for the first time (or the fifth time ... or the twentieth) without looking deeper would consider it all a bunch of claptrap. Yes, it can seem arbitrary and shallow, just a silly parlor game, which makes those of us so taken by it look like deluded, superstitious fools.
The Houses of the Horoscope -- What life areas do your Natal Chart Houses rule? ---> Defining the Departments of Life ---> 1st House = Personal presentation, the way you "come across" to the world, things you personally embody, stand for or promote; interests, traits and attitudes that define you; who you tell the world you are 2nd House = Personal wealth and material support; your abstract values; "what's important" to you; things you use to support yourself financially / psychologically / spiritually; attitudes and considerations ....
What is a Horoscope? -- Astrology's Most Essential Tool ---> What is it? What does it mean? ---> Sometimes this word is used to designate the forecast or prediction of events based on the alignment of planets in the sky at any given time. As such, it has been seriously abused and twisted by the popularized (and usually meaningless and sappy) "fortune-cookie" versions that appear in newspaper features and other products we all know so well. A horoscope to an astrologer, however, is a map of the sky ....
Sooo ... What IS a Rising Sign? ---> The Zodiac signs rise in the Eastjust like the Sun ---> So ... what IS a "Rising Sign?" ---> The Ascendant of a Natal Chart is also called the "Rising Sign." Astrologers use the two terms interchangeably. It is literally the sign that was rising on the Eastern horizon of the sky at the time you were born in the place where you were born. This is why it is essential to have both a birthplace and a birth time in order to cast a completely valid horoscope.

From EDA: Explaining Astrology ---> Everyday Astrology March 1, 2020 Explaining Astrology ---> Astrologers use the various celestial bodies as they travel through the sky-map of the Zodiac as a way to chart the different cycles of creative action. Then they translate it all into the circular pattern of the horoscope with its twelve house divisions & mysterious squiggles & symbols, & from there ... the interpretation begins.
Gender in Astrology -- Masculine / Feminine Energy in Astrology -- From Everyday Astrology ---> Everyday Astrology March 6, 2021 Masculine / Feminine Energy in Astrology The concept of balance, support & containment ---> Philosophers sometimes see & define the world & life as a series of contrasts / sets of opposing forces / action & reaction / provocation & consequence / pairs of opposites. Each exists because of the other. Each exists to both support & balance the other. Each acts & exists to check & contain the other.
From EDA The Zodiac ---> Everyday Astrology October 23, 2019 The Zodiac ---> A dictionary description of the Zodiac says this is "a belt of the heavens within about 8° either side of the ecliptic, including all apparent positions of the sun, moon, and most familiar planets. It is divided into twelve equal divisions or signs (Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces)."
Thoughts on Astrology -- From Everyday Astrology ---> Another Window on the World. ---> Astrology is a highly refined, organized collection of observations & philosophical wisdom ... conclusions based on what happens, the kinds of people born & the interests & events prominent during specific, predictable times in the past & future. I believe Astrology describes great cycles of psycho-spiritual experience common to everyone ... every living thing on Earth participating in our reality.
