Venus Retrograde
Once Venus retrograde meets the conjunction with the Sun & passes behind it, she becomes the Morning Star, nestled in the dark blue to blue-gray to shell pink of the sunrise every day. You just won't see a Morning Star & an Evening Star on the same day. Once Venus gets close enough to the Sun to touch & go past, she seems to disappear for a couple of days. Change of costume, maybe.
In any case, once the first days of subtle change are over, there's a markedly different mood associated with a retrograde planet. It has different work to do now than when it's moving direct. I think of it as the "editing" part of writing. During direct motion, you do stuff, you get things done, you learn more, you make some decisions ... you try some stuff out.

Venus Retrograde
Planets in Astrology represent the family of your Inner Selves with different interests & activities, & involved with different areas of life. All the celestial citizens in your horoscope that are planets have a part of their cycle called "retrograde." The Sun & the Moon who are also in your horoscope are known as The Luminaries -- the light-givers. They aren't planets, therefore neither ever retrogrades.
Venus, however is a planet, & as such has an associated retrograde cycle. The orbit speed of Venus tracks that of the Earth very closely. Where the Sun spends 30 - 31 days in a Zodiac sign, making its way through its annual journey, Venus spends almost exactly 4 weeks -- 28 days -- in each sign. So it takes her a while to stretch out her full tether, pause & turn retrograde.

Venus Retrograde
You've probably seen the Morning Star ... and the Evening Star. Or you've at least heard the terms whether you noticed the sky at sunrise or sunset ... or not. Both the Morning Star and the Evening Star are bright, twinkly and beautiful. The brilliance alone is eye-catching. But it's always one or the other. Morning or Evening. You never see both on the same day.
That's because they are both the planet Venus, and whether it's morning or evening when it makes it appearance depends on which side of the Sun Venus is on. Venus as the Evening Star is following the Sun as both sink below the Western horizon. Venus as the Morning Star is rising above it. In Astronomy, that's just an interesting fact of spatial position. In Astrology, it means something.
