Mercury Opposing Pluto
Mercury opposing Pluto can be as grim as it sounds ... your mind, beliefs & ideas face circumstances of profound, irresistible change. It sets up considerable, understandable, predictable intellectual stress. The tension here is between what you believe ... or what you believe ought to be true ... and the undeniable reality of what actually exists.
Fundamentally, it's cognitive dissonance to the max ... & you can imagine how uncomfortable that is. (And if you can't, Life's about to demonstrate it for you ... so pay attention.) Your thoughts & ideas, how you "think the world works" face considerable challenge ... forcing you to either back up your claims & prove your case ... or change your mind -- because both world views can't be correct.

* Pluto -- The Symbol of Irresistible Change ---> When things change ... drastically ---> Pluto. If the idea of this planet and all its metaphorical meanings, all the things it symbolizes out in the real world, don't cause the hair to ripple on the back of your neck and an inward shudder to pass through the core of your body like a sudden gust of frigid wind, well, then you don't know it like I do.
Pluto: Lord of Transition -- The Power to Rock Your World ---> The planet Pluto, so the news is told, was discovered by accident ... in a world where "accidents" are more mythical than the Lord of the Underworld himself. Twenty-two year old astronomer Clyde Tombaugh was actually on a wild goose chase when it happened, unaware, of course, that his whole mission was based on a mistake -- or that he was about to step into history.
Pluto: Ruler of Scorpio -- Symbol of Your Transformative, Regenerative Self ---> Pluto, with its bizarre, irregular orbit, is the last of the discovered planets in this Solar System which the basic metaphorical language of astrology contains. Occasionally it is the outermost of the known planets, although during part of its journey around the Sun it moves inside the orbit of Neptune. There is even some debate about whether it qualifies as a bona fide planet.

Mercury Opposing Pluto
This face-off between the symbol of communication and learning and that of fundamental transformation and irresistible power creates a situation where you, other people, society, maybe even humanity itself are all trying to change the way the other thinks and talks. You each want to bring the others' perceptions into line with your own and you're determined to do it.
You believe your ideas are better than current practices. You believe they are possibly transformative, maybe radical, maybe revolutionary. You believe "theirs" are dangerous, subversive, misdirected and destructive. (And they believe the same about yours!)
