Mercury in Libra
Mercury entered Libra yesterday afternoon where it will retrograde from September 14 until October 6 ... keeping it in this sign for over two months, save for a brief, inconsequential few days' stint back into the very ending degrees of Virgo.
When Mercury is in Libra, ideas stress things like cooperation, courtesy, consideration, and diplomacy. Thinking shows a strong capacity to be fair, to find compromise, and to work with other people's points of view.
This energy is known for being tactful, companionable, considerate, polished, sincere, and warm. There may be a obvious emphasis on partnership interests and teamwork. People feel strongly about achieving unity in their relationships regarding ideas, viewpoints, opinions, and beliefs.
They want to feel supported intellectually by their "significant others" - and may even speak in terms of "we think," "we want," "we believe," etc. They are deferential, polite, sociable, non-confrontational,. and "nice."
Under stress, people and their ideas become unrefined, impolite, selfish, manipulative, and be especially demanding and uncooperative regarding partnerships. People may also be coercive with partners in order to force agreement - so as to present "a united front."
When Mercury is in Libra, your intellectual energy, your interests, the things you think and talk about center in ... and go to support ... specific areas of your life. Below is a quick sketch of just where this energy is now affecting your personal chart and its placements.
If you have your Sun, Moon, and / or Ascendant in the same sign in your Natal Chart -- for example, both Sun and Moon in Aries, or Moon and Ascendant in Scorpio, or all three in Pisces, there will be an redoubled (or tripled !!) emphasis in the areas of life described below.
If you have your Sun, Moon, and Ascendant in three different signs (the most usual arrangement), you will find all three areas of concern will be prominent in what you think and talk about now -- often in ways that combine, support, interfere with, or are otherwise connected to one another.
If your Sun, Moon or Ascendant is in Aries: marriage, "other people," ... and all partnerships and close relationships
If your Sun, Moon or Ascendant is in Taurus: work and service, interest in health issues
If your Sun, Moon or Ascendant is in Gemini: creative abilities, relationships with children and brain-children, leisure activities, and things you love to do
If your Sun, Moon or Ascendant is in Cancer: private life, home and family
If your Sun, Moon or Ascendant is in Leo: mind, communications, and the use of knowledge
If your Sun, Moon or Ascendant is in Virgo: money and finance
If your Sun, Moon or Ascendant is in Libra: personal presentation
If your Sun, Moon or Ascendant is in Scorpio: research, planning, artistic inspirations, mysticism, seclusion, inner work and therapy, healing and restoration
If your Sun, Moon or Ascendant is in Sagittarius: friends and professional colleagues, goals for the future, humanitarian ideals, contributions to social evolution
If your Sun, Moon or Ascendant is in Capricorn: career, public reputation, professional interests, community standing, fame and honor
If your Sun, Moon or Ascendant is in Aquarius: intellectual expansion, law, religion, philosophy, foreign perspectives, teaching
If your Sun, Moon or Ascendant is in Pisces: death, permanent endings, joint assets, self-improvement, and the property and abilities of other people
When Mercury retrogrades, these same areas of concern will be the ones being rethought, realigned, restructured, and reviewed.
