One of life's great divides
All Full Moons involve some kind of conflict. Usually, as the Full Moon forms ... and for several nights following, you feel pulled in two directions at once, required to try and serve two masters ... no matter how impossible you know that is -- logically. Life's demands in two opposing / competing areas become equally insistent and intense.
They are always familiar. You've played this game before. Maybe you live with them constantly. (Were you born under a Full Moon? Do you have oppositions in your horoscope -- your Natal Chart? Do you have a partner, friend or important "other" -- lover, boss, parent, rival -- with planets in opposition to yours? Do planets in the sky now oppose a Natal Planet?) Full Moons reveal options you either didn't know about or didn't want to look at. Now ... you can't avoid them.

Appreciating the Full Moon ---> It happens every month ---> Like The New Moon, The Full Moon every month has an exact time when it arrives -- the moment The Moon precisely opposes The Sun in the sky. Visually, The Full Moon hangs around for several days -- the day before the event, the day of and the day after, you'll hardly notice the difference. It's like re-runs and repeats. If you miss one showing, you get another chance ... or two ... or more.

Full Moon / New Moon? Or New Moon / Full Moon? * -- Variations on the rhythms of life ---> Different rhythms ---> It's a subtle difference, I admit, but it's there nevertheless. Life's psychological rhythm has a different sequence, depending on whether the New Moon in a particular sign forms first, followed about two weeks later by the Full Moon in the opposite sign ... or whether the Full Moon forms first, followed then by the New Moon lining up with the Sun in its sign. Knowing where to put your attention and when simply helps you navigate your way through life's currents, eddies and slipstreams more easily. So, this is a situation where "details count" ... and so do ....
Musings on the Full Moon Series
Musings on the Full Moon 1 -- Working with our closest celestial neighbor ---> It happens every month ---> The Full Moon is an unmistakable sight, one of the heaven's most awesome shows. There is at least one full moon every month. Every 2 - 3 years we get a second one in a calendar month. In all, we get 12 - 13 a year. The Full Moon is the visual climax of the Moon's monthly tango with the Sun -- the point at which the Moon and The Sun oppose one another in the sky. As one rises in the East, the other sets in the West -- and for a couple of days before and after the exact peak, as I said, the display is spectacular. The Full Moon is the point at ....
Musings on the Full Moon 2 -- Conflict and confrontation ---> Musings on the Full Moon 1 Part 1 ---> A conflict of opposites ---> For obvious reasons, Astrologers see the Full Moon as an opposition -- an aspect of confrontation and projection, and it is one of the highlights that graces every sign. Every month as the Full Moon forms, the Sun in one sign -- and the interests and qualities it represents, confronts the Moon in the opposite sign -- with a conflicting agenda of needs and desires. Somehow under the Full Moon, you have to find a balance point ....
Musings on the Full Moon 3 -- A different, special energy ---> Musings on the Full Moon 1 Musings on the Full Moon 2 ---> Full Moon energy is real & different ---> Over the years, I've written lots of stuff about full moons, the visual spectacle they provide, the special energy they carry ... & why they have such a notorious reputation. "Logical types" insist the whole idea is silly, that Full Moon energy is no different than any other. They say, "It's all in your head," like that solves the problem. It's one hazard of life on the ....

The Luminaries in Astrology * -- The Sun and The Moon -- What are they ... and what's the difference? ---> The Light-givers ---> The Luminaries -- This term refers to The Sun and The Moon in a horoscope -- distinguishing them from the other common elements ... the eight known planets, excluding the Earth. The term luminary suggests The Sun and The Moon are both sources of light, and it's true they are both the brightest objects in the sky and two of the most commanding points of information in a horoscope. But, not to shave the distinction too fine, The Sun is the only one that generates its own light (and heat). The Moon is basically an enormous rock in orbit around ....
Polarities in Astrology -- Working with the Energy of Opposites ---> Full Moons and trouble ---> Pretty much every Full Moon article I've written opens with a warning. When Full Moons arrive, we deal with problems, conflicts, challenges, the need to compromise, the demand for choices. Full Moon are notorious for prompting with unruly behavior in real life ... and we don't escape the stress by staying home. We're part of the chaos, and where it exists, we have to deal with it. Full Moons show inner issues, serious disagreements between two of our Inner Selves, differing values, squabbles about what's important ... and why ...

From EDA: Full Moon Energy -- From Everyday Astrology ---> Everyday Astrology December 1, 2020 Full Moon Energy ---> It's easy to get caught up in the press & swirl of activity, life's pressures, your public responsibilities & professional demands. Outside expectations have power. So do other people, and during every Full Moon crisis, they & their interests occupy one side of the issue, one end of the spectrum -- & somehow you're stuck on the other end, besieged & cornered. Alone maybe. Trapped. It's not a good feeling, & yes it can make people nuts. If they realize it. If they have time & are wise enough to ....
From EDA: The Full Moon -- From Everyday Astrology ---> Everyday Astrology July 24, 2021 The Full Moon ---> So, does the Full Moon really affect human behavior & psychology? Does anything in the real world change when the Sun & Moon face off against each other? Are the attitudes & actions common during the full moon every month really the foundation for the word & concept of "lunacy?" Is the time-honored connection between lunar & lunatic just an ancient misunderstanding? To be charitable, let's say the jury is out on that question. There are supposedly "scientific" papers that say no, it's a myth.

* What's the Difference Between -- A Solar and a Lunar Eclipse? -- Different Issues ... Different Requests for Your Attention ---> The physics of it ---> A Solar Eclipse happens when the Moon passes between the Sun and the Earth, blocking the sunlight from view for a short time. ( Earth ---> Moon ---> Sun ) A Lunar Eclipse occurs when the Earth moves between the Moon and the Sun blocking sunlight so that it cannot reflect off the surface of the Moon. (Moon Earth Sun ) A Solar Eclipse can only happen in conjunction with a New Moon, and not every New Moon has these three bodies in proper alignment ... each at the right "altitude" for this blockage to occur.
* Eclipses -- Special Alignments between -- The Sun, The Moon and The Earth -- for those who like their Astrology straight-up and hard core ---> An eclipse -- why it happens ---> In ancient times, eclipses were viewed with fear and wariness -- since they were imperfectly understood. But even today, when we fully understand the cause of eclipses ... and can predict their appearances years in advance, there's still a definite ambivalence -- even among astrologers -- about this peculiar, visually stunning astronomical phenomenon. From a strictly astrological viewpoint, a Solar Eclipse occurs when the Sun and Moon occupy the same degree of a Zodiac sign and are positioned in the sky so that the Moon blocks the Sun from view.
* Eclipses: A Celestial Show in Light and Shadow -- The User-Friendly Version ---> A celestial sensation ---> Eclipses have long been viewed with wariness and caution. They are, for certain, visually impressive events. If you ever have the chance to see one, it's worth the effort. But if you missed the latest one, never fear. There will be others! Eclipses also seem to foretell changes and developments far more momentous than those predicted by an ordinary lunation. Their reach is also deeper and lasts longer -- 6 months or more -- compared to the 4 - 5 weeks of a New Moon's power and the 2 weeks of a Full Moon's sway.

From EDA Eclipses ---> Everyday Astrology July 6, 2020 Eclipses ---> Some of the drama associated with eclipse actions are fueled by the history behind what eventually happens. Some changes come to life wild & turbulent, like the shock & aftermath of an earthquake in real life. Earthquakes come because little by little there's been build-up & pressure under the surface of the earth. This pushes again strong resistance ... which can stop its progress & hold off change for a while. But eventually something cracks, breaks ... & the result allows for a huge amount of movement, slip ....
From EDA: Lunar Eclipses ---> Everyday Astrology July 5, 2020 Lunar Eclipses ---> It's another of those complications that seem to haunt Astrology -- & therefore Life -- with a persistent & often unexpected presence. I'm talking about eclipses ... things that come up 4 - 6 times a year when you were expecting (or hoping for) an ordinary New Moon or Full Moon for the month. Depending on how they line up in your horoscope & whether or not Natal placements are affected, eclipses can shatter your comfortable life rhythms ... & knock you right out ....
Solar Eclipses -- From Everyday Astrology ---> Everyday Astrology July 4, 2019 Solar Eclipses ---> Astrologers have always respected the symbolic power of eclipses. Even today an aura of apprehension and foreboding may attend one's arrival. But predictions that link eclipses with problems, misfortune and disasters, I think, miss the mark. Eclipses represent significant points of change, partially because the concerns they highlight hang around so long. Its sheer "staying power" points to something that really needs extra attention ... and it won't depart until you've dealt with it. (And if you refuse ...
