The Sun Opposing The Moon
Who you are now vs. who you used to be
The aspect of the Sun opposing the Moon is the classic celestial show the rest of the world calls The Full Moon. In Astrology, The Full Moon highlights tension between two conflicting desires, ambitions, requirements, or sets of values -- each a necessary part of life, and each somehow a problem for the other.
In this, as in all oppositions, you need a compromise to try and meet the needs of both elements. Here you're working with ego desires, personal ambitions, and your wish to feel important and valuable on the one hand and emotional loyalties, private longings, and firmly ingrained habits on the other. It's a challenge between the person you've become and the person you used to be.
The balancing act, especially here, is not easy. It shows two different systems, personal desires, or inner parts of you in conflict with one another. It demands new arrangements and new bargains with yourself about how you handle life.
Under the Full Moon, according to common wisdom -- and police and health care workers -- people go noticeably nuts ... because the most uncomfortable conflicts are those within ourselves.

Appreciating the Full Moon ---> It happens every month ---> Like The New Moon, The Full Moon every month has an exact time when it arrives -- the moment The Moon precisely opposes The Sun in the sky. Visually, The Full Moon hangs around for several days -- the day before the event, the day of and the day after, you'll hardly notice the difference. It's like re-runs and repeats. If you miss one showing, you get another chance ... or two ... or more.
Basic Stuff About the Full Moon in Astrology ---> At least one Full Moon in every sign ---> * There will be at least one Full Moon in every Zodiac sign -- but not necessarily one every month. Sometimes -- rarely, but sometimes -- February gets skipped. Also sometimes -- rarely, but sometimes -- there will be two Full Moons in a Zodiac sign -- one very near the beginning and the other very near the end. ---> * Full Moons form when the Moon is directly opposite the Sun in the sky. As one rises in the East, the other sets in the West, because at the Full Moon the Sun and Moon are on opposite horizons. (That's what an "opposition" means.
Quick Notes on the Full Moon -- It gives you the basics and saves lots of time ---> It's complicated ---> Full Moons accompany a time of complex emotions and concerns. There's often a lot going on when a Full Moon arrives ... activities, interests and commitments on the outside, and ambivalence, confusion and a distinct level of concern and distress on the inside. Full Moons are not comfortable in the way that the New Moon time will be. Full Moons are times of pressure and division. You want one thing, but you also want something else -- and Life, for one reason or another, is forcing you to make a choice. You either cannot have both desires -- you can't ....
* Full Moon / New Moon? Or New Moon / Full Moon? -- Variations on the rhythms of life ---> Different rhythms ---> It's a subtle difference, I admit, but it's there nevertheless. Life's psychological rhythm has a different sequence, depending on whether the New Moon in a particular sign forms first, followed about two weeks later by the Full Moon in the opposite sign ... or whether the Full Moon forms first, followed then by the New Moon lining up with the Sun in its sign.
The Sun & Moon in Astrology
* The Sun and Moon in Your Natal Chart -- Two powerful descriptions of you ---> Your two most important Inner Selves ---> Even in the more subtle, introverted signs, like Scorpio, Virgo and Pisces, The Sun's energy in your horoscope is considered powerful, masculine and demonstrative. Its expression can be overwhelmed and disguised by other factors or afflictions in the horoscope, but not easily.
* The Luminaries in Astrology -- The Sun and The Moon -- What are they ... and what's the difference? ---> The Light-givers ---> The Luminaries -- This term refers to The Sun and The Moon in a horoscope -- distinguishing them from the other common elements ... the eight known planets, excluding the Earth. The term luminary suggests The Sun and The Moon are both sources of light ....
Polarities in Astrology -- Working with the Energy of Opposites ---> Full Moons and trouble ---> Pretty much every Full Moon article I've written opens with a warning. When Full Moons arrive, we deal with problems, conflicts, challenges, the need to compromise, the demand for choices. Full Moon are notorious for prompting with unruly behavior in real life ... and we don't escape the stress by staying home. We're part of the chaos, and where it exists, we have to deal with it.

The Full Moon and Its Meaning 1 -- From the Blogs, Ezines & Elsewhere -- Selection 1 ---> The Full Moon Entries from Everyday Astrology Selection 1 ---> For those striving to live consciously and stay in touch with Life's natural rhythms, Moon phases and the Moon's shifting moods and interests as it circles the Zodiac every month bring some of the most intriguing issues to ponder. Each month the Sun changes signs, and over the year follows a predictable path from Aries through Pisces ....
The Full Moon and Its Meaning 2 -- From the Blogs, Ezines & Elsewhere -- Selection 2 ---> The Full Moon Entries from Everyday Astrology Selection 2 ---> This topic is actually relevant to this Full Moon discussion. But given the word limit here (These entries are 300 words tops come hell or high water.) you may have to stretch some to see it. I'm not too proud to admit this; I've said it before. Sometimes my own lack of insight (or whatever) amazes me. I don't say this lightly....
Full Moon Energy -- From Everyday Astrology ---> Everyday Astrology December 31, 2020 The Full Moon ---> The Full Moon every month is a peak of cosmic energy, the high point of both illumination from the physical satellite & the height of contradiction from the energy. Astrology views this connection as the collision of opposites who must somehow reconcile their competing interests & other differences. The Full Moon is about choices, but since many don't realize this, all they feel is the tension.
The Full Moon -- From Everyday Astrology ---> Everyday Astrology October 1, 2020 The Full Moon The Harvest Moon ---> Every few years we get a year with 13 Full Moons in a year instead of 12. The same happens with a New Moon, but I won't get into that now. It depends on when the artificial human calendar (and its arbitrary, arcane idea of "months") synchs up with the actual, ongoing, eternal celestial rhythms. When either happens, one event comes very near the beginning of the month and the other very near the end.
