The center of it all

* Just as the Sun is the center of our Solar System, the Sun in your horoscope is technically the most important element there, although in reality -- and in practice -- there are a number of qualifications on this point.

* Your Sun sign and house position contain information about your creative nature, the basic attitudes you operate from and your power to tackle the challenges of everyday life -- the methods you use to meet your needs and get things done.

* There is something majestic, even commanding, about Sun energy -- even in the more retiring signs. In addition to describing your core essence, Sun energy shows off your leadership potential. When you're in charge of something, showing off your leadership skills, it's usually your Sun energy who comes out and takes over.

The center of you

* Your Sun energy shows you how to have an impact on the world, how to succeed in ways that boost your self-confidence. A well-supported Sun will help fuel your physical health and well-being. The Sun is replete with strength, energy and the vital force of life.

* The presence and condition of the Sun in your horoscope suggests you come into life with an agenda -- a personal and spiritual mission you will work to fulfill (hopefully.) This may be what you mean when you think and speak of your "destiny."

* Theoretically, the other planets in your horoscope -- which represent other important Inner Selves in your character -- are there to help the Sun succeed in this assignment.

The Sun in Astrology

The Sun in General -- Your Essential Self of Power, Will, -- Vitality and Ambition ---> The essence of you ---> In Astrology, The Sun represents your basic core identity. It gives information about the qualities of your ego, your individual self-expression, your self-image and your sense of personal identity. It depicts both the essence of who you are and how you define and reveal yourself to the rest of the world.

* The Sun in Astrology -- The Central Star in the Horoscope -- Its Meaning and Significance ---> The central player ---> A simple and very general way of working with Astrology centers on the fact that the Sun is the central feature of a horoscope. There is a whole industry of mainstream astrology built around this idea, from the little three line "daily horoscopes" in newspapers and magazines to the little dime-store booklets that purport to "tell you more" about who you are, using your Sun sign characteristics as the basis of their information.

* The Sun -- Ruler of Leo -- Symbol of Your Essential Self ---> One of Astrology's "Big Three" ---> The Sun, which supports all life on Earth, is Astrology's symbol for an individual's basic personality, the underlying canvas upon which all the other colors and elements of his character are co-mingled and combined. The Sun and its meaning are the centerpiece in the structure of Astrology. Along with the Moon and the Ascendant (or Rising Sign -- the sign of the Zodiac literally rising on the eastern horizon at the time of birth) the Sun is one of the three most significant components in a horoscope, and arguably the most ....

More about the Sun

* The Meaning of the Sun in Astrology -- The Star of your Horoscope -- Its Place in your Inner Family ---> The annual journey ---> Every year The Sun travels through all twelve signs of the Zodiac, spending about a month in each. But calendar months are not all equal in length, and Zodiac signs aren't either. The winter ones are a bit shorter, those in summer a bit longer. Or the other way around, if you're south of the equator. Every planet in a horoscope is associated with a Zodiac sign ... and is said to "rule" that sign. (Mercury and Venus each rule two signs.

* The Spiritual Meaning of -- The Sun in Astrology -- The symbolism of The Sun ---> The Central StarThe source of light ---> The Sun's spiritual meaning in Astrology is the spiritual essence of you! ---> The Sun and The Moon are considered "the luminaries" in Astrology. The word itself means "light source," but The Sun is the only celestial body in the horoscope that gives off its own light. The Moon merely reflects The Sun's light -- from whatever angle it occupies in the sky at the moment ... which creates the changing shape and appearances of The Moon we call "phases."

What The Sun in Your Natal Chart -- Reveals About You * -- The center of your horoscope / -- the center of your personality ---> The Sun ... it's just the beginning ---> Despite its powerful influence in familiar mainstream astrology, The Sun in your horoscope gives a whole lot more information to an astrologer than simply the characteristics associated with its sign. It also describes a whole lot more than just your basic temperament ... the cluster of traits people recognize (and possibly list) when they think and talk about you.

Also about The Sun

* What Does The Sun Represent -- in Your Natal Chart? -- What is it ... and why is it important? ---> The center of everything ---> The Sun is the unmistakable center of our Solar System. Likewise, the Sun is your horoscope, with its sign placement and house position, describes the core essence of your character..

* Introducing the Sun -- What it means in plain English ---> Getting started ---> Unless you've lived under a rock all your life, there's a good chance you've at least met some very basic ideas from Astrology, one of which is apt to be your Sun Sign. This is the Zodiac sign you name when someone asks, "What's your sign?" and you answer, "I'm a Cancer." or "I'm a Virgo." or "I'm a Sagittarius."

* My Notes About the Sun in Astrology ---> Note: This is a random collection of "things to know about the Sun in Astrology," listed in no particular order, but it gives a pretty complete description of what this essential point of reference can tell you ... or at least tell your Astrologer. Predictable and easy to find ---> * The Sun is the best known player in Astrology. The Zodiac sign it was traveling through when you were born ....

Final Notes about The Sun

* You Are Your Sunshine -- Sun Energy in your horoscope ... -- what it is and what it does ---> The center of it all ---> In Astronomy, the planets in our Solar System revolve around the Sun ... the celestial body at the center of it all ... keeping things together and sustaining life as we know it. In Astrology, your Sun energy defines your life purpose, your central essence ... the power that fashions and expresses the character that is completely, uniquely you.

* Interpreting the Sun in Your Horoscope ---> The Sun ---> Represents the inner self Your inherent sense of purpose, destiny or importance in life Ego, drive, willpower, ambition Your individual self-expression Your sense of personal identity What you strive to be How you seek to gain attention ---> The Sun expressing positively ---> Ambitious, confident, creative, dignified, dynamic, generous, honorable, influential, loyal, noble, a leader ....

* Sun Power -- Sun energy in your horoscope and personality -- What does the Sun represent in Astrology -- and why is it important? ---> It's complicated -- and so are you ---> Astrology understands your personality is a complex, integrated structure. It's composed of different parts, different Inner Selves, that theoretically work together as a whole. Of course that's not always true. (I called it "theoretical" for a reason.) Inner conflict is a huge part of being human.

* Things to Know About The Sun in Astrology -- Reflections on The Sun -- in no particular order ---> Let's start here ---> The Sun itself is the central feature and the only star in our solar system. In Astrology, The Sun, along with The Moon, is considered one of the "luminaries" -- a word that means "light source." The Sun, however, is the only one that generates its own light. The Moon's light is actually reflected light from the Sun. The Moon's position in the sky and its ability to reflect different amounts of light accounts for The Moon's changing "phases" though the month. In Astrology, The Sun reflects your essential personality ...

The Solar Power Series

Solar Power 1 -- A portrait in code ---> The Sun is a central player in astrology and the central feature in a horoscope. It is one of the first three elements an Astrologer looks for when assessing the nature of an event or the qualities of a person's character. The other two horoscope elements that approach the Sun's importance are The Moon and The Ascendant -- or Rising Sign -- the sign on the cusp of the 1st House.

Solar Power 2 -- the horoscope's central player ---> The Sun is the best-known player in astrology, likely because it is both important in interpreting a horoscope and because it's usually extremely easy to determine the Sun's position in the sky from just the date. In other words, you don't need a lot of extra books and equipment to come up with Sun Sign information ... which makes the Sun's position at any given time the basis of ....

Solar Power 3 -- the essence of you ---> The Solar Power Series ---> The Sun in your horoscope represents the self, your personality and ego, your spirit. It describes your basic identity and what makes you -- the individual -- unique. Your Sun energy describes the essence of who you are today and who you are becoming through the events and experiences of this life. I consider that the Sun in your horoscope describes your Essential Self.

More Solar Power

Solar Power 4 -- along a predictable path ---> The Solar Power Series ---> The Sun travels through all twelve signs of the Zodiac each year, spending about a month in each sign. The Sun travels the same sequence of the Signs every year ... starting with Aries at the Spring Equinox ... to Taurus ... to Gemini ... through to Pisces. The Zodiac sign dates and calendar dates, however, are not aligned.

Solar Power 5 -- rules Leo & 5th House ---> The Solar Power Series ---> The Sun rules the Zodiac sign Leo and natural 5th House. In plain English, this means the qualities and attributes The Sun represents are closely aligned -- virtually indistinguishable from -- those associated with the sign Leo ... and closely associated with interests of the 5th House in a Natal Chart ... regardless of the actual sign on that house cusp.

Solar Power 6 -- The Sun in Your Horoscope ---> what it does and how ---> The Sun is the central player in your constellation of Inner Selves. His energy is literally the captain of the ship, the chairman of the board, the star of the show. His presence, his interests, his well-being and development are central to your happiness and success. He describes the state of your Essential Self, the person you are and are becoming. He defines your sense of who you are, and he helps you make many important decisions about the course your life will take.

Solar Power 7 -- What it wants -- what it cares about -- and what about the rest? ---> The star of the show ---> Your Sun energy is the central core of YOU. It wants respect. It wants adequate expression. It wants to show off its creative skills. It wants what you accomplish to be valued and important. In achieving that, you feel valued and important.

The Transiting Sun

* Notes on The Transiting Sun ---> The moving picture of you ---> Aspects that involve the Sun ... whether we're speaking of the Sun in your Natal Chart or the transiting Sun in the sky ... always involve issues of self-identity, personal ambition, your willpower, and ways in which you want to have impact on the world ... and feel important. Wherever the Sun is involved, you are looking to shine.

* Understanding Transiting Sun Energy -- Things to know about the transiting Sun's -- behavior, position and influence ---> The traveling Sun ---> The Sun represents your ego, your basic sense of who you are. In Astrology, the Sun symbolizes your self-image and your self-identity. Your Sun Sign, obviously, tells what sign the Sun was traveling through on the day you were born. The Sun in the sky, however, travels through all twelve signs of the Zodiac in the course of a year.

Sun Aspects

What Do Sun Aspects Show? -- The Presence and Behavior of Your Inner Selves ---> You and your self-expression ---> All aspects to the Sun affect how the person, entity or event you're examining expresses itself ... and how it is perceived. If you have aspects to the Sun in your Natal Chart -- and chances are you do, an unaspected Sun is rare but not impossible -- it shows influences from your family of Inner Selves that affect your self expression. Planets that aspect your Sun shape your sense of who you are -- your self identity. Sun aspects show attitudes and interests that help or hinder your ambitions, how you use your will power, ....

* Conjunctions of the Sun -- When the Essential Self Merges with Another Inner Self ---> When the Sun and another Inner Self join forces ---> Conjunctions involving the Sun merge the Sun's symbolism of self-image, creative effort, personal pride and initiative with whatever the other planet (or planets) symbolize. These two are then joined together as a unit. They function as a team or a partnership -- or like a pair of Siamese twins. Whatever affects one necessarily affects the other, and whatever one does, inevitably involves the other. You no longer look at or consider them separately.

The Sun & Moon in Astrology

* The Sun and Moon in Your Natal Chart -- Two powerful descriptions of you ---> Your two most important Inner Selves ---> Even in the more subtle, introverted signs, like Scorpio, Virgo and Pisces, The Sun's energy in your horoscope is considered powerful, masculine and demonstrative. Its expression can be overwhelmed and disguised by other factors or afflictions in the horoscope, but not easily.

* The Luminaries in Astrology -- The Sun and The Moon -- What are they ... and what's the difference? ---> The Light-givers ---> The Luminaries -- This term refers to The Sun and The Moon in a horoscope -- distinguishing them from the other common elements ... the eight known planets, excluding the Earth. The term luminary suggests The Sun and The Moon are both sources of light ....

The Sun in Astrology
From the Blogs, Ezines
and Elsewhere

From EDA: The Sun -- From Everyday Astrology ---> Everyday Astrology July 4, 2021 The Sun ---> The Sun in your horoscope defines the essence of your spiritual being. That's pretty much the standard textbook truth about this fundamental pillar of Astrology. But not all Suns are created equal, & to understand exactly what it reveals about the person or situation you're examining, the art of an accurate interpretation rests in the details.

From EDA Sun Energy ---> Everyday Astrology ---> Sun Energy in Astrology ---> All planets in Astrology -- in your horoscope -- occupy a "sign." Each is in a sign in current day time, traveling along in its prescribed orbit around the Sun. Each was in a sign -- very likely a different one -- when you were born. This is the sign it occupies in your horoscope -- a fixed & permanent position relative to the other celestial citizens found there.

From EDA: The Sun and The Moon -- From Everyday Astrology ---> Everyday Astrology May 24, 2021 The Sun & Moon ---> The Sun and The Moon each have constant, predictable rhythms that form a natural, celestial-based clock that living things, including us ... human beings, feel & respond to. The Sun has an annual schedule, moving into a new Zodiac sign & a new energy about once a month.

From EDA: The Transiting Sun in Astrology ---> Everyday Astrology April 4, 2021 The Transiting Sun ---> The Sun travels through the 360° circle of the Zodiac every year, a trip that takes about a year. So the Sun moves about 1° a day. The Astrological year begins on the first day of Spring -- the vernal equinox -- at the moment the Sun enters Aries. From there it transits each subsequent sign in turn ... Taurus, Gemini, Cancer ... finishing finally at the close of Winter in Pisces
