Venus in Scorpio
From Sep 2002*
Venus went into Scorpio last night. Everybody take a deep breath!!
When Venus is in Scorpio, people are passionate, controlling, and somewhat secretive in their relationships. This is an extraordinarily powerful placement for Venus, but not always a constructive or comfortable one.
Sexual energy can have an unhealthy and extreme emphasis in the conduct of relationships now ... as people opt for carnal satisfaction over the more humane and tender considerations of love and companionship.
When Venus is in Scorpio, it marks a time when people are overly prone to include blatant and undisguised power struggles in close relationships - as personal needs and desires become things to achieve "at any cost." The selfishness of this placement can be extremely disagreeable.
This is also a period when people are looking to unite their assets, resources, talents, skills, knowledge, energy, and interests - including, yes, sexual interests - with others to form structures that offer more as a joint creation than either party could accomplish by working alone.
There is, indeed, vision, method, and benefit to the development of Scorpio energy, even in this difficult combination. People are looking for relationships that are both lasting and improved ... to fill their requirements for "other people" in their lives.
The problem is, however, both people in the relationship are apt to have uncompromising and forceful notions about what this means - and be vigorously intent on getting their own way, regardless of where the partner stands on the same issue.
Under stress, matters that are already touchy and volatile can get seriously out of hand. Passion and desire veer dangerously into possessive jealousy, ruthlessness, dictatorial attitudes, unreasonable behavior, displays of temperament, an unyielding will to dominate "the other person," and - in extreme cases - unscrupulous methods and expressions of perversion.
Venus retrogrades in Scorpio this year ... and so will occupy this mysterious and often fateful sign until January 7, 2003. The upcoming article on Venus Retrograde will give more information as that time arrives on what this symbol forecasts for each of the Zodiac signs. Stay tuned!!
