Venus went into Virgo this morning -- which may help shift the focus of the problems I've just described away from matters of affronted pride and onto the picky details of criticism and fault-finding. It may not be much help objectively ... but it can make the conflict more petty and less ridiculous. So do keep telling yourself the worst of this only lasts about 10 days at the most.
When Venus is in Virgo, people tend to be rational, discriminating, and practical in their relationships. This is not exactly the stuff of moonlight and roses . . . and so in matters of the heart, Virgo energy has a distinctly "unromantic" reputation.
People emphasize qualities such as being versatile, efficient, industrious, meticulous, and helpful. They want to be "of service" in their personal relationships, and will emphasize "doing a good job" in the chores, favors, and "work" they do for others. This is a preferred strategy for attracting the love and appreciation they want from others -- for now..
When Venus is in Virgo, people may be looking to "earn" or "deserve" love. Thus there is a meticulous, analytical, "fussy," quality to the way they go about getting attention. They may also use money (or value possessions) in ways that are serviceable, efficient, pragmatic, and sensible.
They may also pay unusual attention to details, and value "the little things" that make life more comfortable and pleasant. Again, it's not the stuff of great romance, but Venus in Virgo shows love . . . by doing the kind of work that really doesn't get noticed - until it doesn't get done.
Under stress, efforts to be loving and helpful may quickly become "smothering." Attentive service . . . turns to "hovering," "fretting," and being too "picky." Efforts to improve or serve loved ones may turn into complaining, fault-finding, and criticism. Relationships get into trouble because the partners are high-strung, impatient, superficial, finicky, and nagging with each other. The emphasis on "tending to details" now generates fights over "stupid little things."
* Articles in the extensive series "Things to Know About" are constructed from information originally published in Step-by-Step, our Premium Members several-times a week Astrology Ezine. This Ezine has been continuously published since late November 2001. The material is published here mostly for my convenience. It is not intended to be finished, organized, polished or even complete. Some of it may be notes that don't even make a lot of sense, but you're welcome to look at it.

Your Venus Energy -- So much more than love and money ---> Named for the goddess of love -- Venus the planet, and therefore Venus in Astrology, is named for the Roman goddess of love. That's the short definition of what she symbolizes, and the minute people hear that, their ears perk up and they want to know more, more, more. Her Greek counterpart was Aphrodite, but that's not the "more" people want to hear. Like all short-and-simple answers to complex questions though, this one is misleading and woefully incomplete.
